We are seeking a Product Designer to coordinate considerations for our artwork composition tooling within the Design Platform team.

This role will sit in our Editorial Tooling team, the technical arm of Spotify’s Visual Merchandising field. Visual Merchandising is responsible for all of Spotify’s content presentation needs - encompassing the design, production, storage, analysis, and management of content artwork and imagery.

You will act as the eyes and ears for all design considerations - contributing to a sophisticated and cross-functional effort of reimagining Design Tooling for content artwork at Spotify. You will be an innovator and a problem solver, taking into consideration UX and user needs related to artwork creation. The primary focus is around scaling playlist artwork (i.e. cover art). Additionally, you will evolve and optimize our visual expression and expand the tool to fit other audio types.

What you'll do

  • Lead design projects across the entire product lifecycle and multiple product launches. Set the vision for the user experience and build the space for others to collaborate.
  • Provide design thinking and leadership to develop the right product strategy.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team and partner closely with engineering, product, art directors, and music business partners to find sophisticated but practical solutions to design challenges.
  • Take into account existing insights, technical constraints, business needs, and specific platform demands to produce data-informed solutions.
  • Evangelize design systems and system thinking within the team and where possible contribute towards them.
  • Be autonomous. You’ll take full ownership of your work, and take responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way.
  • Foster a strong culture that is inspiring and inclusive towards others across all teams.

Who you are

  • Have proven design skills and experience shipping products, and understand what it takes to build valuable and meaningful experiences through an iterative approach.
  • Have a people-focused design mentality. You are constantly looking to refine your designs through user feedback, whether through hands-on user research, or designing options for A/B tests. You are able to turn the output into data that can drive product design decisions.
  • An effective communicator and facilitator. You’ve planned sprints and structured workshops to drive outcomes quickly and effectively. You’re familiar with standard methodologies but are just as comfortable challenging them.
  • Your portfolio demonstrates experience designing consumer-facing, business to business and/or internal products.
  • You have the communication skills to help set up frameworks and brainstorm initial design concepts, and can gather alignment across cross-functional teams, while considering feedback.
  • An understanding that localization, representation and empathy for different cultures is important for this role.
  • You have an online portfolio or PDF that you can share with us.
