At Doist, our mission is to empower people with simple yet powerful tools.
We're a multidisciplinary, fully-remote, team that’s passionate about creating products, like Todoist and Twist, that improve people’s lives. We thrive on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and we seek to rethink how productivity tools are made.
Our Core Values
They are few, but they are mighty. From creating processes to decision-making and recruiting, we build our four core values into nearly every single thing we do.
- Ambition. You aspire to put a dent in the universe. You set high standards for yourself and those around you. You solve issues that have a high impact on our customers and our company.
- Mastery. You care deeply about the quality of your work. You’re continuously learning and pushing yourself to the limits of your ability. As a champion of your craft, you are also a champion of your well-being – you work intensely, then disconnect completely.
- Independence. Others can trust that you’ll deliver on time. You keep your word and trust your teammates to do the same. You are proactive, take ownership, and remain accountable with little or no direction.
- Communication. Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging. You keep others in the loop and never go radio silent. You speak respectfully and foster warm relationships through your interactions. You’re culturally and socially aware and can appropriately navigate social situations.

Your Team & Role
At Doist, design is woven into how we build, not just a handoff step. Our small, multidisciplinary Design team shapes the end-to-end experience across our product suite: Todoist, our flagship task and project manager used by millions; Automations, which lets users build powerful workflows without writing code; and our Communications app, designed to bring calm, focused async communication to teams. We work across every platform (iOS, Android, Web, and Desktop) and care deeply about getting the details right on all of them.
We operate in cross-functional squads, where designers work closely alongside product, engineering, and marketing to own problems end-to-end. We’re a fully remote, async-first team, so strong written communication and the ability to work independently are how work actually gets done here.
As an IC4+ Product Designer, you’ll be embedded in product squads tackling real challenges: designing productivity features, evolving our design system across platforms, and helping our products become the tool of choice for individuals and teams alike. AI is reshaping how we work and what software can be, and we believe it should be purposeful, private, and genuinely useful. You’ll help shape how we get the balance right, including using AI tools yourself to prototype and explore ideas faster than ever before.
What this role involves
- Designing intuitive, beautiful, and consistent experiences across iOS, Android, Web, and Desktop
- Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and marketers within cross-functional squads
- Contributing to and maintaining our shared design system and component library
- Using data, user insights, and direct user conversations to validate and improve design decisions
- Using tools like Claude, Cursor, and similar AI tools to prototype, write code, and ship, actively closing the gap between design intent and working product
- Finding new ways to improve how design and development collaborate, through tooling and process
- Helping define and evolve the product vision alongside the broader design team
- Staying ahead of platform guidelines (iOS HIG, Material Design, Web standards) to bring the best of each platform to our products
Requirements
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings strong craft, a clear point of view, and genuine excitement about what design looks like in a world shaped by AI.
You’ll thrive in this role if you’ve
- A portfolio showing strong visual design and UX thinking, with multi-platform work (mobile + web)
- Experience shipping real product features, not just concepts
- Comfort working across platform guidelines (iOS, Android, Web) and knowing when to follow them vs. when to break them intentionally
- Experience working with and contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Using AI tools like Claude and/or Cursor to prototype ideas, write and ship code, and move faster from concept to working product. This is how we expect design to work at Doist.
- A drive to find better ways to bridge design and development through tooling, process changes, or shared workflows, and the initiative to actually propose and test them
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in writing, in critique, and in collaboration with engineers
- Excellent communication skills, both visual and written
- Alignment with Doist’s mission, vision, and values
- Experience working in a remote, async-first environment or the willingness to adapt to this working style
How you work
- You’re genuinely curious about design, technology, people, and the world. It shows in your work. You don’t wait to be taught; you seek things out.
- You write well. In an async-first, remote environment, clear written communication is how decisions get made and momentum is maintained.
- You take ownership. You can move a project forward with minimal direction, flag blockers early, and know when to ask for input.
- You involve users. You’re comfortable running lightweight research, interpreting usage data, and letting evidence shape your decisions.
- You thrive in a team. Doist’s design work is collaborative. You’ll give and receive feedback regularly and make others’ work better.
- You care about quality. Not perfectionism that blocks shipping, but the kind of care that separates a good product from a great one.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with motion/animation as a design tool (e.g. micro-interactions, transitions), not just polish.
Not sure you’re a fit? If you meet at least half of these, we’d still love to see your application.
Our Process
- Submit your complete application by April 27, 14:00 UTC. Attach a resume (or manually entered experience) and thoughtful responses to all the application questions. No cover letter needed!

- Paid Task Assignment. This will be your opportunity to showcase your role-specific skills, how you think and work.
- Culture-contribution interview with Amir, our Chief Executive Officer.

- Offer to the successful hire.
