Our designers leverage what they learn about psychological and social dynamics, communities and networks, systems and policy design, in addition to more typical design skills. Product design plays a significant role in impacting product strategy directly. Designers at Quora work on everything from ranking to UI, from internationalization to moderation systems, with each design decision validated through A/B testing and user studies alike, as we value rigor and empathy in equal measure. About the Role:

As a product designer dedicated to design platforms at Quora, you’ll lead the charge in shaping the future of QBlocks — the Quora design system. You’ll be responsible for making our system more usable, scalable, and robust through collaboration with designers and engineers. As an evangelist for QBlocks and the collective effort required in evolving our system, your goal is to create a foundation for a consistent user experience and streamline the development of new products.

Responsibilities:

• Defining a strategy and creating a roadmap to develop QBlocks into a best-in-class Design System
• Establishing clear ownership and processes for ensuring a continued evolution of our design patterns and components
• Identify opportunities to raise the bar for all of Quora design that lead to meaningful outcomes for the business
• Navigate ambiguity, and clearly communicate and document rationale to designers and cross-functional partners
• Work autonomously to quickly and pragmatically execute on multiple projects
• Contribute to team growth and development through mentorship and evangelizing best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's "coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time). Learn why here
• Portfolio that demonstrates designing and building high-quality design systems components for both consumer and B2B products
• Strong proficiency in the use of Figma components and tokens and the ability to translate them into working components in code (React, JS, and HTML / CSS)
• Experience collaborating with other product designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create new components that scale across multiple products
• Experience building and maintaining Design Systems documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience establishing the operational processes as relates to Design Systems
• Experience with A/B testing and use of data analysis frameworks
• Skilled at delivering high-quality mobile experiences for social media products

Additional Information:

For Colorado based applicants, the minimum salary range is $140,000 - $144,000 + equity + benefits. For California, New Jersey, and New York based applicants, the minimum salary range is $165,000 - $169,000 + equity + benefits. There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.
