Product Designer, Design Systems

We're looking for an experienced product designer to create scalable, accessible experiences as part of our Design Systems team here at Databricks. You’ll contribute to the vision for the system, processes, and tools empowering our design and engineering teams to build high-quality, well-designed software. As part of a core team of product designers responsible for design systems, you'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary partners across research, engineering and product management teams.

With a distinctive emphasis on designing components, systems and tools for our design team, your efforts will directly contribute towards unlocking compelling, accessible, and innovative experiences at Databricks. 

The impact you will have:

• Enhance your skills and influence others around best practices for designing scalable and accessible components, interactions, and features in the product
• Craft system components and patterns while collaborating with the product design team
• Work with designers to identify opportunities for unifying designs across products
• Actively contribute to defining the strategy for the design system and inform the design system team roadmap
• Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design pattern documentation
• Write documentation and guidance on how and why components, styles, and patterns are applied in code and design
• Provide designs for Databricks' product and contribute to the collective direction of the product
• Seek and provide design feedback and collaboratively improve the design process

What we look for:

• All candidates must submit a portfolio to be considered for this position
• Minimum 3 years of product design work experience with 1-2 years of relevant design systems experience
• A portfolio of strong interaction design, design systems, and product design work
• Clear articulation of design decisions to design, engineering and product teams
• High attention to detail
• Experience shipping great digital products
• A diverse product design skillset to create experiences that delight a technical audience
• Experience designing with accessiblity and inclusivity best practices
• A system thinker with the tactical ability to break projects down, allowing engineers to build incrementally
• Eentrepreneurial mindset and don’t shy away from business metrics, customer conversations or a debate with the engineering team
• You inform your design practice with research to understand customer goals and validate design proposals
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent, with specialization in HCI, interaction design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
• Bonus: experience designing design systems in the data industry or similar fields
