We are looking for a Design Systems Designer to join our Product Design team here at Captions. You will own and evolve our internal design system. This role involves designing key components, identifying opportunities and gaps, and setting a strategic direction to ensure the long-term effectiveness and relevance of our design systems. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various design and engineering teams, lead the development of UI components and patterns for both desktop and mobile web, and native apps, and champion design excellence across the product organization.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of Captions' design system, driving it forward with innovative ideas and improvements.

• Design and refine UI components, identifying opportunities for system enhancement.

• Set a clear vision and strategy for the design system, focusing on long-term effectiveness and relevance.

• Collaborate closely with multiple design and engineering teams to ensure cohesive and innovative design solutions.

• Lead the development of UI components and patterns for a range of platforms including desktop, mobile web, and native applications.

• Drive design excellence across the product organization, supporting teams in delivering consistent and high-quality user experiences.

• Develop and maintain design system documentation, ensuring its accuracy and ease of discoverability. 

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience as a product or visual designer, with significant experience in designing native apps for iOS and Android. 

• Demonstrable experience building and maintaining a design system. 

• A Bachelor's degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Demonstrated experience in exploring and defining emerging patterns, and evolving a design system through thoughtful systems thinking.

• Proven ability to utilize both quantitative and qualitative insights to inform and guide design decisions.
