Product Designer - Design System

We are looking for an experienced Designer to join our Design System team. You’ll be involved in building thedesign elements that contribute to a unified user experience across all our products. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in product design and interaction patterns for responsive web. While we’re not responsive yet, we’re looking for you to help us push our Design System towards that direction. Reporting into our Principal Product Designer, this is an excellent remote career opportunity within Hotjar’s P&E department, playing a part in delivering the next wins for Hotjar.

Our Design System has been an ongoing internal effort for the last year and we’re looking for someone to help take charge of its next evolution. You should love collaborating with others as you’ll work with a team of 12+ designers on a day to day basis to apply our Design Language to Hotjar’s products and guiding the designers to the next level of craftmanship. This includes managing things like our Figma libraries, Documentation & Best Practices, as well as Accessibility guidelines.

Hotjar, we’re building Behavior Analytics software for businesses selling online. We make it easy for them to go beyond traditional web analytics and understand what users are really doing on their site. Hotjar is a flourishing startup that gives thousands of website owners, teams and professionals the tools needed to discover how their visitors are really using their sites. 

What you’ll be doing: 

• Lead the visual and interaction design of building blocks and UI patterns that make up the Hotjar user interface.

• Identify, prioritize, and monitor task, progress of design, development, and documentation across team members.

• Partner with 12+ designers across multiple squads to come up with solutions that consider and prioritize our design debt, design dependencies, and that support teams building UI at scale.

• Be a bridge with our Brand Design team, introducing our brand character into the personality of our building blocks. Keep agreement and a single brand identity across organizations.

• Work with software engineers to ensure our designed components are in-sync with React components. Consider technical constraints to always bring incremental value.

• Work with Experience Design leadership to provide a consistent experience in all our Hotjar touch-points, while allowing the team to design at scale.
