We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer to create scalable, accessible experiences as part of our Design Systems program here at Asana. You’ll contribute to the vision for the system, processes, and tools that empower our product designers and engineers to build high-quality, well-designed software for all of our users. 

With a unique emphasis on designing tools, libraries and components for our design team, your efforts will directly contribute towards unlocking beautiful, accessible, and innovative experiences at Asana. As part of the Designs Systems team, your work will simplify, streamline and scale our efforts while empowering the design team to make Asana even more useful for millions. Your work will contribute directly to helping us achieve our mission – to enable all teams to work together effortlessly. 

As part of a core team of Product Designers owning systems within the product, you’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary partners across research, engineering and product management, representing an informed design perspective from inception to post-launch reflection. Asana is helping teams in 190 countries become significantly more productive with our leading work management platform. What you’ll achieve

  • Grow your skills and influence others around best practices for design scalable and accessible components, interactions, and features in the product
  • Actively contribute to defining the strategy for the design system and the roadmap
  • Craft system components and patterns while collaborating with the product design and design leadership team
  • Think in terms of design systems and their impact, not just screens (read stories on the Asana Design blog)
  • Coach and collaborate alongside fellow product designers on how to best leverage the design system in their product work
  • Write documentation and usage guidelines for components and patterns within the system
  • Participate in design critique and product leadership feedback meetings
  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship components
  • Experience career growth and personal development with world-class mentorship and development programs

About you

  • 5 or more years relevant design experience at a high-tech/product-driven company with 1-2 years of relevant design systems experience
  • Experience designing with inclusive and accessible best practices in mind
  • Possess an understanding of the product development process, from discovery and problem definition through to detailed UI and visual design
  • Able to delineated between when apply a design system consistently, and when to challenge and evolve the system in the spirit of creating the best product
  • Have an understanding of how the web works (flows, structure, states). No coding required, but an understanding of HTML/CSS and ability to converse with developers about implementation details is essential
  • A champion of the user, you connect directly with customers and actively participate in user research, ensuring that designs are informed by research and data to shape the future of our product
  • Nice-to-haves: 
    • familiarity with accessibility and localization, and experience building in HTML/CSS
    • strong visual design / graphic design skills
