About the team

The Product Design team is composed of several teams that work together to help define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of the Stripe brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within a dedicated product area. In partnership with the product team, they help define the user-facing experiences our users encounter on Stripe products, then translate that thinking into a complete experience that can be tested, shipped, and refined. They are responsible for creating well-functioning and beautiful products and experiences that users love and are eager to recommend to others. 

What you’ll do

For this role, you’ll be working across the company to understand users, product, and business needs to drive and align on a continuous vision for the future of the Stripe Dashboard. This team looks to maintain a high quality experience for all Stripe products and to evolve that vision forward continuously. In this role you will work as part of a horizontal design team. 

Responsibilities

  • Proactively discover company-level opportunities and help bring clarity and insight through high-fidelity vision prototypes and expert storytelling
  • Partner with teams to ensure their product vision aligns to the broader Dashboard strategy
  • Contribute to the visioning, sequencing, tactics, and execution of a multi-phased overhaul of horizontal Dashboard experiences 
  • Independently lead and drive design initiatives for the org 
  • Regularly present your work to company leadership; able to act on and iterate against multiple streams of feedback, quickly producing new iterations that incorporate relevant feedback
  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion with other designers, product teams, stakeholders and leaders to shape, define, and align on company strategy and roadmaps; able to set and achieve priorities that find the perfect balance between both user and business needs
  • Work across the entire design organization to develop innovative frameworks and systems that are durable, repeatable and set a new standard for craft across the company
  • Help define, set, exemplify, and enforce a set of quality and craft standards that help teams ship with that quality, without compromising velocity, a deep commitment to craft & product excellence
  • Participate in crits and design reviews; share your work regularly with design and company leadership
  • Leading and providing mentorship to peer or junior designs through collaborations or sprints with other product teams.

Minimum requirements

Has 10+ years relevant design experience at a tech, product-driven companyAbility to operate independently at a high altitude to turn ambiguous, complex, horizontal problems into concrete visions (in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders) that bring together multiple team strategies

  • Have strong craft and visual design skills
  • Comfortable presenting work to company leadership regularly

Preferred qualifications

  • Ability to reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use and advocate for a larger design vision with stakeholders 
  • Experience partnering closely with product, engineering and other cross-functional teams to drive design vision and strategy. Help turn business objectives into customer-centered problems and steer team strategy
  • Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional partners and stakeholders through strong design or written communication; crave feedback to help you produce your best work
  • Experience creating flexible and scalable frameworks and guidelines for rapid iteration and experimentation
  • Experience working with or leading groups of peers or more junior designers as a design manager or IC
