Product Designer, Creator Tools

We're looking for a Product Designer to embed within our Communities product team to build experiences that empower creators to make a living using Discord.

As a product designer focused on creators, you'll be involved with the full product development process from end-to-end, from brainstorming to launch. You'll use a balance of product thinking, interaction and visual design skills to build features at a regular cadence.

What you'll be doing

• You will report to our growing Product Design team within the Engineering, Product, Analytics and Design (EPAD) organization.
• Embed within a Communities product organization and partner with engineers and product managers to oversee the user experience of creator features from concept to launch — and then continue to improve it after it releases to millions of users.
• Honing your design skills to concept and ideate new features to help new and existing creators make a living on Discord.
• Measure the success of your design decisions via experimentation with the help of Data Analysts and Product Managers.
• Continuously growing and demonstrating your product thinking, visual and interaction design, along with prototyping to build world-class product work.
• Understand our goals and connect them with design decisions that can be articulated in individual or group settings.

What you should have

• Minimum of 2 years experience designing and shipping a web/app product for a variety of devices and platforms.
• Multiple years of experience working with embedded product teams and building relationships with Product, Engineering and other partners to set the roadmap and vision for your team.
• Product thinking and vision. You're more concerned with the "why" than the "how."
• A high level of craft and attention to detail, solid visual and interaction finesse in all of your work.
• Experience using high-fidelity prototypes to communicate and demonstrate concepts.
• Practice evaluating experiment data to help inform design iterations and shipping decisions.
• Fluency in Figma or Sketch.

Bonus Points

• Experience contributing to design systems
• Icon design and animation expertise
• Direct knowledge or experience with creators and larger Discord communities/servers
• CSS, JavaScript, or React skills
