Product Designer (Berlin/Paris/remote within EU)

Our team of 90+ designers and user researchers is split into three departments covering User Experience Research, Product- and Brand Design. All designers work embedded in product tribes, in market facing teams or as part of a Global Design team. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations.

As a Product Designer, you will be joining one of our cross-functional teams building the SumUp POS Pro solution. POS Pro is our premium point-of-sale focused on medium to large size merchants. It's one of the fastest-growing products within SumUp.

Our commitment is to create simple yet beautiful solutions that cater to our merchant's real-life problems. The current ecosystem of solutions includes three main products:

• iPad-based POS, used daily for orders, internal communication among staff members and managing payments
• Dedicated back-office that allows merchants to tailor their POS according to their working habits and analyse their performances through smart reports
• Open API that allows our merchants to integrate POS Pro with their favourite external apps

You will become an expert in your domain, building solutions for our mobile and web application from concept to reality. Your empathic thought process and research skills will help you understand the users' problems and ensure we build the right solution.

As part of the SumUp Design community, you will work with our Design System, applying and adapting it to the new product needs. 

Your Profile

• You have 4+ years of experience as a UX & UI Designer, with deep expertise in one and strong skills in the other.
• Your design process follows a human-centred approach, and you apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to validate your solutions
• You have designed and shipped complex applications across the entire product development cycle
• You have experience working with design systems
• You execute across all phases of design work: Understand our users’ needs, define the conceptual foundation for design solutions, test hypotheses with users and then work with engineering during the implementation phase
• You work independently on a set of features, collaborate with product management, engineering, user researcher and other designers to arrive at optimal solutions, and coordinate across teams to create a holistic merchant experience
• You proactively engage with your design chapter and peers to get feedback and optimise the end-2-end customer journey
• You have experience in working in an agile environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing product priorities
• BA or MA in Design or related fields, or complementary studies with deep work experience in product design
• Knowledge of French is a big plus
