Mattermost is seeking a Product Designer - Audio Calls who will help us build world-class experiences for our open source collaboration platform. Our ideal candidate is a multi-disciplined product designer with an eye for detail with the ability to produce high-quality and high-impactful responsive interfaces. Every day, you’ll work with other product designers, product managers, developers, and members of our open source community to create intuitive and engaging experiences.

Responsibilities:

Proactively looking for opportunities to improve the usability, user experience, and visual design of our products
Focusing on the use and adoption of audio calls and screen-sharing feature/functionality
Establish detailed usability and design guidelines for product development based on industry best practices and competitive benchmarking
Work with our design system manager to create and request design components used by product teams
Work closely with your product team and other stakeholders to gather requirements, understand usability concerns and look for areas for improvement
Produce designs of various fidelity depending on needs, ranging from sketching to mockups to prototypes
Plan and conduct user research and usability tests, documenting, communicating, and acting upon the results
Build relationships across product lines and departments to raise the standard for good design across the company

Required Background/Skills:

5+ years of hands-on product and interaction design in the software industry, with a focus on responsive design
Applied knowledge of audio and video calls and screen-sharing technologies
Experience creating in-product awareness and educating users on new and existing features
The ability to effectively articulate the rationale behind design decisions
Strong visual design sense and impeccable attention to detail, with a drive to speak up when something is not implemented to your standards
Intensely curious, with a good understanding of analytics and a desire to learn from the data
Proficient in various research and design techniques such as qualitative research methods, personas, wireframing, task analysis, journey mapping, sketching, prototyping, usability testing, etc
