We’re looking for a Product Designer with a passion for inclusive design to help to create and advocate for accessible experiences here at Asana. In this role, you’ll navigate the nuances between design and code to ensure best practices, and contribute to systems, processes, and programs that empower our product designers and engineers to build quality software for all customers.

Your work will be critical in advancing our accessibility roadmap, partnering closely with engineers, product managers, and design leaders. You’ll work to drive adoption of accessibility frameworks across our product and establish programs and processes that foster inclusive design culture. Contributing from concept to quality control, you’ll work closely with our engineers to ensure we're achieving quality, accessible software - now and in the future.  

What you'll achieve

  • Grow your skills and influence others around inclusive design, accessible components, interactions, and product features
  • Partner with cross-functional team members to establish vision, strategy, metrics, and goals for Accessibility at Asana
  • Design accessible system components while remediating others to improve accessibility for the otherall system in collaboration with product design team 
  • Mentor and coach fellow product designers on how to best leverage the accessibility in their product work
  • Write documentation and usage guidelines for components and patterns within the system
  • Participate in design critique and product leadership feedback meetings
  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship high quality components
  • Experience career growth and personal development with world-class mentorship and development programs

About you

  • 2 or more years relevant design experience at a high-tech/product company
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, from discovery and problem definition through to detailed, systematic and visual design
  • Comfortable delinatiating between when to leverage a design system to create successful work and when to challenge the status quo in spirit of something new
  • Experience working with VPAT, Section 508, WCAG web accessibility standards and guidelines
  • Fundamental understanding of how web technology works (flows, structure, states). No coding required, but must be comfortable communicating with developers about your design, including specific implementation details like states, variations and responsive behaviors
  • As a true champion of all users, you work to foster a clear understanding of the customers' needs and actively participate in user research 
  • You have a fundamental understanding of essential visual design principles like color, typography and layout
  • Nice-to-haves: 
    • Familiarity with localization 
    • Experience with front-end code languages like HTML/CSS/SASS
    • Robust visual design experience or a background in graphic design
