As the Product Design Trainee at SafetyWing,

We are on a mission to remove the role of geographical borders as a barrier to equal opportunities and freedom for everyone. And we are doing that by creating simple health, insurance, and retirement products for remote workers worldwide as a replacement for national welfare systems.
👨🎤 As our Product Design Trainee, you will:
- Support product design initiatives from initial concept to final execution, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and timelines.
- Contribute to process improvements by helping implement and advocate for ongoing enhancements in design processes and developing strategies to elevate the quality and efficiency of design outputs.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to maintain a cohesive and consistent design language across all products.
- Adhere to design systems by assisting in evolving and enforcing SafetyWing's design system, ensuring all design elements are aligned with established guidelines.
- Present design ideas by helping communicate and present product design concepts to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, fostering a collaborative and informed decision-making process.
🧪 We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for product design and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field.
- Holds a relevant degree and some practical experience or internship in product design.
- Has a portfolio showcasing design projects and practical experience.
- Is proficient in using design and prototyping tools such as Figma and committed to continuously learning new features.
- Can communicate design ideas clearly and champion design principles across diverse audiences, including design and non-design stakeholders.
- Is comfortable with ambiguity.
- Has a strong sense of empathy for both users and team members.
- Is interested in helping build a global social safety net.
- Thinks for themselves instead of copying others.
- Is creative and bold in the face of any problem.
- Is intellectually honest and has high integrity.

We offer a 2-year fixed-term contract with an opportunity to join our team full-time if it works for both parties.

We operate in a fully remote work environment – work from anywhere globally.
We have at least two annual team gatherings. The previous gatherings were in Ljubljana, San Francisco, Mexico, Bali, and Siglufjörður.
