Role Description

2022 and beyond is going to be important for this group at Dropbox as we are truly experimenting and bringing to market new ways for professionals to collect, organize, and use their digital content. To achieve this vision, we’ll have to overcome many of the limitations and obstacles that make it difficult for customers to manage and retrieve their cloud and file content today.
Together, we’ll assist and automate the ways users organize, make views of content more personalized, provide fast and reliable search experiences, make a bold leap in indexing third party cloud content, and invest in foundation (metadata and primitives) to power next generation search and organize. Together, we’ll make this bold, strategic bet for the future of Dropbox.
As a Product Designer Manager for the Search and Organize area, you’ll work with cross-functional partners to create the strategy, vision, and plan of action for the best experiences for Dropbox customers.
As a design leader you’ll be a champion for innovative and impactful approaches to solve the most important problems for our customers. You’ll be a steward of operational excellence, holding your teams accountable to ambitious goals and developing processes to achieve efficient but impactful outcomes along with a well-loved culture.
You will also be joining a world-class product design team with a community of managers focused on helping each other grow your own career and craft alongside your team.

Responsibilities

  • Set vision & strategy with your product partner and persuasively communicate direction
  • Guide your teams through focused work that lead to both customer and business results

  • Manage a motivated and skilled product design team with humility, candor, and flexibility
  • Hold high standards of quality and work with partner organizations and teams to design cohesive customer experiences
  • Be dedicated to your team’s progress by investing in skill development, culture, and community

Requirements

  • 2+ year experience leading a team of designers as a manager
  • Ability to effectively guide teams through a range of experiments to big swings
  • Strong design craft (while this isn’t a practicing IC role, it’s important that you’ll be able to lead your team to quality execution and coach on skill development)
  • Customer-focused mindset with critical business evaluation skills
  • History of building strong cross functional partnerships
  • Demonstrated experience working on projects from discovery through shipping/iteration.
  • Clear, compelling presentation and communication style
