Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned design manager to lead a team of multifaceted designers focused on the seller experience on Cash App, helping merchants grow their business using our platform, and connect them with consumers in meaningful and valuable ways.

Cash App for Business is helping millions of entrepreneurs and small business owners take payments and run their businesses on Cash App. This team is responsible for building the programs and utilities that cater to the needs of a seller or business, from creating a professional-looking business account to connecting with existing and new buyers to accepting and tracking transactions to preparing tax documents.

As a design leader within the Marketplace org, you will recruit a well-rounded team of designers, promote an environment for creativity and growth, facilitate connections across teams and disciplines and product areas, influence the product vision at multiple altitudes and drive positive customer and business results.

You will:

  • Lead and scale a distributed design team for a key workstream within Marketplace
  • Guide the careers and development of your team, ensuring the amplification and growth of team members, including managers
  • Shape the merchant experience for businesses using Cash App, creating tools and services to help them run their business.
  • Bring comfort and expertise in technical environments, including knowledge of both the mobile and web client-side development process
  • Develop deep partnerships across our business to effectively speak to design processes, design goals, and deliver user insights that inform product and go-to-market decisions
  • Play an important role in strategic planning efforts to understand and bridge our priorities with Design investment and output
  • Contribute to Design team culture and take ownership for I&D efforts


You have:

  • Experience as an influential design leader who delivers impactful, strategic work that moves a business forward
  • Experience managing talent and cultivating career growth
  • A keen systematic and visual eye, and an understanding of how to use creativity to meet team goals
  • Experience collaborating with leadership to inform product development processes and an understanding of how to solve product challenges across platforms
  • Multiple examples of shipping successful high quality, end-to-end experiences or products
  • Extensive industry experience with a proven track record of scaling product design teams
  • Bias towards action with a high degree of self-sufficiency and ability to influence up and across disciplines
  • Keen interest in reimagining digital and in-person commerce experiences for customers and businesses.
  • An understanding of performance marketing and brand marketing strategies
  • A clear point of view on design direction, an openness to new ideas and a bias for transparency and communication
  • Empathy for the customer, your teammates, and our mission

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone B: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone C: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone D: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
