Your Summer With Earnest

At Earnest, we are deeply focused on building the next generation of financial tools and funding options for undergraduate and postgraduate students like you. As a design intern, you will join a team of other experienced designers and researchers who are passionate about the future of financial decisions a student has to make while pursuing their education.

During this 10-12 week long summer internship program, you will be responsible for defining, researching, designing, validating and implementing features within our student loan origination user experience. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design team members and constantly get feedback to improve and hone your design skills and solutions.

Summer internship program

• Duration - Your summer internship program is 10 - 12 weeks, starting in June and ending in August. We will work with you to determine the right duration of the internship.
• Project - You will be working on launching incremental features within our Student Loan Origination product. The project will showcase your complete design process including research, product design and interaction design skills.
• Culture - We have a strong design culture with opportunities to share praises and get feedback from an extremely talented design and research team. You will be part of a remote first culture that stays connected in a fast-paced, online environment. Being available to ask and  answer questions is part of our DnA.

Responsibilities

• Report to one of our Design Leads.
• Partner with your UX team, Engineers, and Product Managers to define, ideate, critique, and iterate design solutions for various real world projects.
• Work closely with senior designers to ideate and jam on user solutions.
• Collaborate with your user research team to understand the user problem and test new concepts.
• Create prototypes that illustrate the solutions you have proposed.
• Display strong visual skills with a focus on the details and demonstrate a deep understanding and empathy for our users.
• Be a product thinker and understand business and user problems, identify opportunities, find reasonable solutions, mock them up in detail, and work with engineers to build them.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Figma, Adobe Suite and User Testing 
• Ability to showcase your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, that include interaction and visual design artifacts and high-fidelity prototypes
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of product design through a portfolio of previous projects or design-related project coursework
• Motion design and interactive prototyping is a bonus
