Product Design Engineering Intern

Role Description

As a member of Chewie’s Product Design Engineering team in summer 2023 you will be part of a cross functional team to design, validate and ship Chewie’s hardware products. You will work closely with other members of the PD team as well as cross functional groups including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Reliability, Product Management and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design mechanical systems to balance complex tradeoffs between cross functional teams including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Reliability, Product Management and Operations
• Generate CAD models, specifications and drawings
• Prototype, Test and Analyze component and system designs 
• Validate and system performance and iterate designs to achieve targets
• Perform root cause analysis of performance failures and drive corrective actions

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• A strong desire to work hands-on (think power tools and 3d prints)
• Experience in CAD modeling, NX is preferred.
• Knowledge of plastic and metal part manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals to find simple solutions to complex problems
• Strong communication skills
