The POS team is responsible for creating intuitive and efficient workflows for the Toast point of sale software platform powering restaurant-grade hardware.  This team focuses on delivering cohesive device software experiences that simplify complex actions, drive efficiency and empower servers to delight guests while taking orders.

About this roll* (Responsibilities): 

This Principal Product Designer will be a key member of the team, focused on improving and driving rapid innovation in the point of sale experience across multiple device platforms. They will use remote and onsite research to deeply understand user needs then directly apply those insights to designs that deliver clear value. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and other designers to craft end to end experiences that span multiple platforms and elevate new opportunities. As an experienced designer, they will also share their expertise through mentorship and contributions to our design system.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements):

  • 5+ years of experience in a product design role
  • Demonstrated experience designing software through the full product life cycle from idea to market launch
  • Experience conceptualizing MVP experiences, quickly validating with users and iterating based on learnings
  • Advanced proficiency in designing intuitive experiences across responsive web and native mobile platforms including wireframes, user journey maps, prototypes and detailed designs
  • Ability to work with UI components to create pixel perfect experiences
  • Experience collaborating with a cross-functional team to understand users and then translate that understanding into design artifacts that shape thinking and guide development
  • Comfortable planning and executing user research studies that generate insights to positively impact design and business goals
  • Experience establishing and promoting design guidelines, best practices, and standards
  • Excellent communication, time management and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced hybrid work environment and independently prioritize across multiple projects
  • This is a hybrid role that will require occasional work at our Boston office and traveling to visit customers.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
Pay Range
$157,000$251,000 USD
