Looking for a design leadership role flush with variety, impact, and big ideas? Our design team is growing! We are hiring Principal Product Designers to lead our multidisciplinary project teams, and help us deliver great experiences for users, positive outcomes for our clients, and outstanding work that we can all be proud of!

As one of our most senior practitioners, you’ll be deep in the work on a single project at a time, sometimes as the sole practitioner; other times guiding strategy and ensuring quality as part of a multidisciplinary team of creative, smart, dedicated UX folks –  designers, researchers, strategists, technologists.

In all cases, you’ve got a love for the fast pace and collaborative nature of client-facing agency work, and you get excited by leading projects and teams, guiding clients and stakeholders, and helping grow existing accounts and partnerships as opportunities arise.

This Principal role requires experience in all phases of product design, from discovery and workflow definition to handoff of detailed specifications to development teams. We’re eager to meet with folks with consulting experience as well as experience working on product lifecycle from kickoff to shipping.

Please include your design portfolio in your application. Your portfolio should showcase creativity, craft, user-centered design methods, the ability to iterate broadly, and final design solutions.

A note about location: Blink has offices in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, and Washington. We are a remote-friendly work environment however and are able to hire full-time employees outside of these states as well.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead Projects
  • Work collaboratively with client and project teams to successfully deliver exceptional experiences that engage, inspire, and delight (4-8 projects per year).
  • Guide the week-by-week project plan to ensure everyone is clear on goals, activities, and effort.
  • Facilitate kickoffs, team reviews, client meetings, and workshops, providing a consistent voice, and setting the bar for facilitation, presentations, storytelling, and cheerleading the team as they present their work.
  • Contribute to the work (research plans, interviews, audits, strategies, journey maps, concepts, wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, etc).
  • Regularly review your team’s work, providing ideas and feedback.
  • Champion brave ideas that push past expected solutions to make something beloved.
  • Find opportunities to bring in new perspectives by getting the larger Blink team involved in key elements in our process, including research pilots, concepting sessions, design charrettes, and visual sketching.
  • Uncover opportunities within your accounts for additional evidence-driven design.

  • Guide Our Practice
  • Contribute to leadership activities across our design and research practice.
  • Participate across Blink’s design practice including brainstorming sessions, cross-team critiques, design team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Help evolve our practice by providing input on delivery topics and challenges.
  • Shepherd Blink internal initiatives and collaborate with other senior staff members to make Blink even better.
  • Find opportunities to champion an inclusive culture where people feel respected, creative, and empowered.

What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years of experience in product, interaction, software, or UX design.
  • Top-notch design craftsmanship, and ability to articulate the whys and hows of user-centered design methods.
  • Ability to guide some research tasks including writing session guides, conducting user interviews, and moderating usability sessions.
  • An openness for rigorous critique — giving and receiving feedback with optimism, clarity, and calm.
  • Authenticity, credibility, and persuasiveness with our team and in client meetings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, both in person and digitally.
If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can rock the role, we’d love to learn more about you.
