About the Job

As a Principal Product Designer at Airbase, you will lead key strategic design and company initiatives with a focus on creating scaleable and coherent experiences across our product. This is an opportunity to have a big impact and influence how the design function evolves as we grow. We're looking for someone who is self-driven and thrives in the growth stages of a company.

Responsibilities:

Deeply understand the customer pain points around how they spend money and also the long-term goals of the organization.
As a member of the Design Platform team, proactively look for and tackle high-level issues by designing cohesive and unified experiences across multiple mediums like web and mobile.
Actively contribute to and build on our design system and guidelines. Develop patterns and interactions that are durable, repeatable, and help evolve the component standards.
Strategically partner with engineering, product, and design teams to define the future of design at Airbase.
Advocate for design by presenting your ideas and work across functions. Articulate design rationale and goals which can help in the adoption and implementation of platform-wide solutions and design systems.
Participate in Design Reviews to ensure high-quality output, and give effective direction and feedback to other designers on the team.
Actively cultivate a design studio culture within the team and push product design forward based on our standards and approaches to design at Airbase.
Mentor other designers on the team.

What You'll Bring:

At least 10 years of experience, including a portion of time dedicated solely to adopting and managing design systems.
Extensive native mobile app and responsive web design experience.
Portfolio with work samples showcasing your experience with the full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail especially to tiny interaction details that delight users.
Passionate about joining a small team and building a company.
Knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Nice to Haves:

You've worked at a startup.
Experience with workflow-driven B2B SaaS products.
Experience with Accounting or Fintech software.
Experience designing products in remote or distributed team environments.
