Role Description

The Workday Product Owner will act as a pivotal figure within our organisation, bridging the gap between our technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and utilisation of Workday solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of both Workday functionality and the business processes it supports, enabling the translation of business requirements into effective, scalable, and sustainable Workday configurations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong focus on delivering value through innovative solutions, enhancing user experiences, and streamlining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between the business units and the technical team, ensuring clear communication of requirements, timelines, and potential challenges. Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather requirements and feedback, and to keep all parties informed of project progress.
  • Roadmap and Strategy Development: Develop and maintain a detailed Workday implementation roadmap, aligning product capabilities with business objectives. Prioritise initiatives based on business value and impact, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
  • Backlog Management: Own and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on. Define user stories and acceptance criteria, and refine them with the development team.
  • Configuration and Customisation: Guide the configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday solutions based on business requirements. Work closely with technical teams to ensure customisations and integrations meet business needs while maintaining system integrity.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts related to Workday deployments, ensuring users are prepared for new processes and features. Develop training materials and deliver training sessions as needed.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of Workday solutions, gathering and analysing data to drive continuous improvement. Address any issues that arise, coordinating with the technical team to develop and implement solutions.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure Workday configurations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices. Work with the security team to safeguard sensitive data within the system.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Workday Experience: Proven experience with Workday HCM, Financial Management, or other relevant modules. Certification in Workday is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects. Familiarity with Agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Change Management: Experience in change management, capable of driving adoption of new technologies and processes within an organisation.
  • Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and foster cross-departmental cooperation.
