The Design Team is obsessed with creating the best experience for Loop merchants and their customers. Designing both product experiences and what we bring to market. They define our visual identity and how we express ourselves across various touchpoints.

The Manager, Product Design will build Loop’s design system, manage our design strategy, and execute on our design vision. We consistently win our merchants over with our strong user experience design, and you’ll help us win over even more by taking our team to the next level. You’ll team up with the broader Engineering and Product teams to make Loop the best ecommerce post-purchase platform in the market. As the leader of the design team, you can seamlessly transition from an aerial perspective to ground level details, and you get pumped up about rolling up your sleeves to collaborate with any team and human. You can expect to work in a product-led environment, and a product culture that is merchant-centric and design-led.

Right away, we’ve listed what we think you’ll be spending your time on. We’re growing fast, and growth means the challenges we’ll work on together will change as we lead Loop through new and different phases.

This is an indispensable role with us, so we’ll be looking for you to have examples of when you’ve tackled these challenges throughout your career. We’ve laid out the experience we think is important to set you up for success in this role. But, we appreciate that different humans will solve problems in different ways, so we don’t expect you to fit exactly in a box of requirements.

Loop HQ is a state-of-the-art office located in Columbus, Ohio, and more than half of our team works remotely across the United States and Canada. You can choose to join us in the Columbus office or stay fully remote in this role.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll join an already existing (and awesome!) team, who you’ll enable to grow and operate more effectively through hiring, mentorship, systems and processes.
  • Lead and build Loop’s design muscle by strengthening the core process for our existing design team, and continuously build on this by always focusing on getting us from point A to point B.
  • Our design team is in early stages, so you’ll wear many hats in this role and be responsible for owning both strategy and execution.
  • You’ll play an essential role in how we communicate Loop and our vision to the world by leading a renowned Design team to deliver value to Loop as a whole.
  • Lead by example and “be a human first” to motivate and mentor members of the Design team, consistently supporting them to make everyone around you better humans.
  • Partner with the People team to hire awesome, incredibly talented designers.
  • You’ll work closely with our Marketing and Branding team to ensure alignment across Loop’s design strategies.
  • Elevate design thinking beyond what it looks like today by ensuring it’s effectively embedded into the Engineering, Product, and Design process.
  • Initiate innovative efforts to mature our tools, systems, and processes to promote scalability and increase speed to market.
  • Partner with our leadership team to set, drive, and communicate design vision.
  • Act as the voice of our market, sharing insights with all teams across Loop so we can stand out as the best ecommerce returns solution.
  • You can appreciate the balance between collaboration, consensus, and empathy, yet understand that sometimes there needs to be a bias for action based decision making that you must align yourself with.
  • Elevate the culture at Loop by demonstrating behaviors that align with our core values.

Your Experience:

  • You have 7+ years of experience in Product and UX Design, specifically with SaaS products.
  • 3+ years of your career has involved leading teams and managing people in the design space.
  • If you’ve worked in e-commerce, that is a huge plus for us.
  • You’re a champion of design, and can share some examples with us of how you’ve built top-notch and scalable design systems.
  • We work with design agency partners, as do our brands, so if you’ve been on the inside of that environment, we’d love to hear from you.
  • You’ve worked at a startup company (or a few) and know what it means to make it through the various stages of rapid growth.
  • You have a portfolio that you’re proud to share with us that includes examples of product design and process.
  • Experience with Figma and other design tools is desirable for us.
  • Have an attitude that truly nothing is “not your job.” You should feel excited by the need to act like an owner to solve problems and dig in, wherever needed.
  • Created exceptional partnerships with your internal partners, and quickly became one of their favorite people to work with.

More About You:

  • You have a history of making your role better than you found it by proactively seeking coaching, and creating and continuously improving expectations, processes, and supporting content.
  • You lean in to continuous improvement and an agile environment - experiment, measure, reflect, and iterate.
  • You have examples of having crucial conversations, such as giving feedback to a boss, customer or peer, admitting a mistake with humility and vulnerability.
  • You can speak to the times you left things better than you found them, and negotiated with your team and stakeholders over doing things differently and how it helped.
  • You have examples of times when a team decision didn’t go the way you wanted, but you still were able to fully commit to the direction and drive progress.

In a perfect world, Loop wouldn't exist. If we had our way, we'd live in a world where we're mindful about how we consume, we love every product we own, and we sharevalues with the brands who create them. In reality, commerce isn't perfect and often breaks. Loop creates secondchances.

We're starting by revolutionizing the post-purchase experience. We've taken one of the most fragile commerce interactions - returns - and turned it into something consumers actually love, and that deepens our connection to brands and products.

We take connection seriously on the inside, too. We're building a work experience that allows you to Be A Human First and prioritizes empathy and wellbeing. We view Loop as a special place in your career to shape the future of an industry and become a better person while doing it. You can grow faster here in a shorter amount of time - we'll give you space and trust you to fill it.
