Manager, Product Design job at 1password

Our cross-functional team of designers and developers is responsible for the design of our customer-facing products and subsequent user interface components across macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and our browser extensions. This team is tasked with providing a consistent, intuitive, and joyful experience everywhere 1Password is used.

The Manager, Product Design will be responsible for guiding several smaller focused design teams who look after some of our key areas and the subsequent features built from them. You will work closely with, and report to, the Senior Product Design Manager, organizing the roadmap of work and the individuals responsible.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada, the US, and the UK.

What we're looking for:

Experience managing and coaching small multidisciplinary Design teams
Able to prioritize design work and delegate or manage appropriately
Great people skills to manage a cross-functional team
Excellent communication skills with the ability to take input and make decisions
A good eye for visual design and an even better one for detail
Familiarity with design-thinking and the product development process
Experience designing and delivering features for multi-platform products including iOS and Android
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Competent with Figma and its use of components and variables
Understanding of design systems and component libraries

What you can expect by month 1:

Learn the basics of our design process
Familiarize yourself with the current schedule
Collaborate with the Development teams to get insight on their current roadmap

What you can expect by month 3:

Be comfortable with tasking the team and setting schedules
Prepare release notes and communicate design scope changes
Familiarize yourself with each of the core features under your purview

What you can expect by month 6:

Start to contribute to the feature roadmap and timelines
Be knowledgeable of how our designers and process work
Operate as a key part of the Design and Apps team, taking ownership of areas that interest you and pushing their design forward to create a better product
