Lead User Researcher job at Backbone

As the Lead User Experience Researcher, you will be defining the research objectives of your business area and driving for better user experience of our products in collaboration with cross-functional leaders in engineering, design, marketing, and business. As one of the first leads in the UX research team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the development of your discipline in Backbone and influence many new gaming products and experiences.

What you'll be doing

Develop a comprehensive research roadmap to answer relevant business and product questions
Gather data through a mixed-methods approach to uncover new insights
Conduct foundational research and oversee research of junior researchers in the team
Drive insights into cross-functional teams to ensure data-backed decision making through development
Create deliverables in multiple formats to effectively deliver impact to a team
Communicate findings to cross-functional teams to guide the product vision
Define and establish a research infrastructure to support a growing business
Represent the voice of the customer in cross-functional programs
Collaborate with a talented team of engineers, designers, and data scientists to realize the ideal user experience

What we’re looking for

8+ years of experience in user research or product design or equivalent degree
Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors & Ergonomics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, or similar
Proven record of shipping products and experiences in a consumer space
The ability to lead and oversee multiple research studies at various project stages
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Skilled in crafting compelling narratives and driving empathy with cross-functional teams
A desire to grow within a small team and build world-class gaming experiences
Expertise in a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to address questions across a consumer gaming business
Preferred: Experience working on consumer devices or platform-level experiences
Preferred: Experience working in the gaming industry or integrated consumer hardware/software products

This is a fully remote role. Up to 10% travel expected.
