About the role

Chime’s mission is to deliver financial peace of mind to the millions of everyday Americans who live paycheck to paycheck. As part of this mission, we want to help our members access additional liquidity when they need it, through simple and clear borrowing options.

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager who will help build Chime’s underwriting platform from the ground up. In this role, you will work directly with the teams building Chime’s lending products to build capabilities and tools that allow us to deliver differentiated credit offerings to our members. You’ll focus on leveraging rich data we have about Chime members, as well as new alternative data sources to inform eligibility and pricing of our exposure products. You’ll collaborate closely with other product teams, data science & machine learning, and credit risk to build meaningful products that truly make a difference to our member base.

We’re looking for a product manager who can think thoughtfully about how to build capabilities that scale for the future, without hindering our ability to learn quickly and get things in market quickly. Chime’s unique data advantages give us an opportunity to build truly differentiated credit offerings, and our ability to underwrite consumers effectively using this data is critical to our success. We’re looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and take full ownership of this area, setting and delivering against ambitious goals for this area in service of building world class solutions to help our members.

For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $176,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Develop a deep understanding of Chime members, and the data we have about them
  • Establish a shared vision for our underwriting platform across the company through clearly communicated plans and priorities.
  • Define the key success metrics and OKRs for your area, and own the roadmap to achieve them. Measure success.
  • Become an expert in traditional and alternative underwriting data, and determine how Chime might use third party data to supplement our own data to work towards better outcomes for our members. Collaborate with our credit risk team on our external data strategy, and our roadmap for bringing new types of data online.
  • Work closely with data science and machine learning teams, to develop new credit models that allow us to expand approvals while maintaining best in class loss rates.
  • Leverage experimentation and data-driven decision-making to support faster innovation as we launch new products.
  • Work collaboratively with credit risk, engineering, design, risk, compliance, marketing and other teams to build software collaboratively and inclusively.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Demonstrated ability as a product manager, with experience in consumer or SMB lending.
  • Empathy for users and a strive to build products that address their difficulties.
  • An owner’s mentality - you don’t shy away from the hard stuff.
  • Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to drive alignment across many cross-functional partners toward shared goals
  • Willingness and judgment to make hard product prioritization decisions and ability to rapidly learn from mistakes.
  • Experience leveraging both experimentation and machine learning to solve real world problems.
  • Strong analytical abilities, competence in SQL, and experience with tools for doing data analysis.
  • Creativity, can-do attitude, and the confidence to just get stuff done.
