Lead Product Manager, Search Platform

We are looking for an experienced product manager to join our Information Retrieval Platform team! Etsy has a unique inventory in the e-commerce space and a customer base passionate about high quality products. As a Lead Product Manager for IR Platform, you will help guide a critical platform team in building the next generation search infrastructure powering nearly 100 million products and billions of conversations!

Collaborate with numerous partners across Search, Ads, Marketing, Trust and Safety and more to define and prioritize not just today’s infrastructure needs but the longer term vision for Retrieval as a Platform. You will play a pivotal role in blending groundbreaking information retrieval and machine learning research to help our customers succeed in scaling up large scale search problems and deliver wonderful customer experiences. You will closely partner with outstanding talent across engineering, data science, product and analytics as we build an industry leading platform.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Product. We are considering remote candidates based in the US for this position. Etsy offers three different work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of our team: Flex mode for candidates who are comfortable traveling to an office location 2+ times per week, Remote mode, and Office-based mode. About the Role

• Lead product management for one of Etsy’s most critical platforms and build solutions that scale to the needs of a diverse set of customers
• Define vision and strategy, setting the stage for long term, continued success, incorporating brand-new information technology with innovative machine learning.
• Work with partner teams to gather input and define priorities leading to product execution.
• Define, build and analyze metrics for the success of products.
• Lead the work for multiple squads to realize both short and long term needs.

About You

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Work experience in Search, Ads, or other similar field
• 1+ years of management experience
• Outstanding Product and Project Management skills
• Strong communication and experience partnering with highly cross-functional teams
• Experience with Solr, Elastic Search, or other information retrieval technologies
• Previous work collaborating with machine learning and data science teams
• Experience working with extensive datasets in real-time settings
• Outstanding communicator, able to talk shop with engineering partners, and communicate vision to business leaders
• Strong desire to continually innovate while delivering incremental value

• A proven track record to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational skills, and search intuition with the ability to evolve product strategy based on research, data and industry trends
• Experience developing highly-available, real-time, machine learning product platforms or technologies is helpful
• Experience with e-commerce or two-sided marketplaces
• Experience with innovative retrieval systems
• Experience working in R&D environments
