About the opportunity

At WeWork, we provide inspiring and flexible workplace solutions to help businesses - small, medium or large - thrive in more than 150 cities globally. The future of work is happening right now, and we are leading this moment. United by a common purpose, here we will empower tomorrow’s world at work. Join us on our journey as we give our members the freedom and support to push boundaries in their industries, and work to redefine our own.

Across the globe, businesses are being challenged to adapt to shifting employee attitudes and preferences for hybrid work environments — part remote, part in-office, distributed. With this shift, companies are coming to us not just seeking space, but also the tools, data, and solutions needed to bring their employees back to work safely and efficiently and adapt to the “new world of work”.

About the role

We’re looking for a self-starting Product Design Lead with a mastery of design craft and an infectiously positive attitude to create high-impact work across our enterprise-facing digital product experiences.

This person thrives in fast-paced environments, works well with design, data, product, and engineering partners. This person would be both a skilled individual contributor and is excited to lead key initiatives with other designers to create high-impact work.

The ideal person for this job is relentlessly focused on human-centered design, cuts through ambiguity to articulate and lead projects from start to finish, and has experience shipping products at a global scale. We need someone who loves diving into complex problem spaces, making sense of disparate concepts, and translating multiple data inputs into clear, elegant, and delightful design solutions. The role requires someone who’s humble, always open to feedback, and values collaboration.

If you’re interested in reimagining how the workplace will evolve in the future, we’d love to hear from you!

Once here, you will:

  • Define and drive design quality, practice, and offerings that meet both business and user goals, as well as promote the use of design principles and techniques.

  • Champion both design and design process by presenting your work cross-functionally, effectively articulating design rationale to gather stakeholder buy-in.

  • Lead the end-to-end product development process from project set up, to product design and development across our company initiatives.

  • Own product strategy in collaboration with product partners to problem solve, scope, build, test, and roll out consistently amazing results.

  • Participate in partner and customer interactions, collaborating cross-functionally across a wide range of functions and stakeholders, such as sales, marketing, brand, content strategy, corporate communications, etc.

  • Turn insights from data analytics and research into tangible design concepts.

  • Solution around complex problems with effective, accessible, inclusive design-centric ideas.

  • Get creative with visualizing complex data sets.

  • Identify design process gaps or inefficiencies and contribute to improvements.

  • Help cultivate a strong design and research culture within a much larger tech organization.

Requirements:

  • 9+ years of design experience.

  • BA/BS degree in Design, Interaction Design, or a related/equivalent practical experience.

  • Evidence of pushing great work into various markets.

  • Experience designing on multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Mobile web, Desktop, etc.)

  • Portfolio including both client-facing and internal-facing projects — ideally across many business functions.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current design trends across various industries that can be tied to various business lines.

  • Evidence of having launched and/or proposed design solutions to business problems that have influenced the direction and outcome of shipped products.

Being a WeWorker is more than just a job. We believe the magic of work is sparked by the passion you bring, the places you go, the people you meet and the purpose you follow. And it starts here. Here you will brush shoulders with those who dare to dream and do. Here you will be welcomed by a diverse community that embraces and inspires you—because together we can achieve more. Here we challenge ideas, and explore new ways of getting things done. Whether you are part of our Employee Community Groups, or part of a global project, we ask you to bring your open-minded attitude and collaborative spirit. In return, you will be part of a team where your unique perspectives are celebrated.

We do not discriminate based upon gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil status, pregnancy (or pregnancy-related conditions), gender identity or expression, transgender status or gender reassignment, race, color, national origin or ancestry, citizenship, religion or religious beliefs, age, physical or mental disability, genetic information (including genetic testing and characteristics), military or veteran status, or any other grounds or characteristic that is protected under the law.

As part of our commitment to health and safety, WeWork -- like a growing number of employers -- is requiring all U.S. employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment, absent a legal exception for reasonable accommodation.  We provide unvaccinated new hires a 45-day grace period after their start date to get fully vaccinated or, if eligible, obtain a reasonable accommodation.  If you believe that a legal exception may apply to you, please still apply for any role(s) you are interested in and, if you are hired, you will receive instructions on how to request a reasonable accommodation after your start date.  Please note that roles that require in-person work -- currently, within our Community (excluding Member Experience), Facilities Management (including Security), Sales (excluding Sales Ops), and Member Technology teams -- will not be eligible for work-from-home as an accommodation because it poses an undue hardship on our business.
