We are on a mission to liberate businesses and people to do their best work.

We are an ambitious, international team with more than 30 nationalities represented today. We believe that people do their best work when they’re given the freedom to thrive and grow. Thinking big, bringing a positive attitude, and taking full ownership are three characteristics that thread our team together.
Founded in 2016 Spendesk today serves thousands of businesses in Europe and the US, and we recently raised a further €100m investment bringing our series C funding to over €200m and in the process becoming one of Europe’s latest Tech Unicorns. Our team of 350+ Spendeskers is spread across four offices in Paris, Berlin, London and San Francisco, alongside many teammates working remotely from various cities in Europe.
And we're growing fast. Come join us!

Spendesk is looking for a passionate and empathetic Lead Product Designer who brings a history of design success and leadership and is eager to be involved across the entire scope of our product.
You can identify problems and opportunities, and frame them in a way that guides both squads and other designers to deliver impactful work. You effectively collaborate cross-functionally and cross-org to develop a vision and drive projects to completion. You’re motivated by goals and outcomes, staying focused on the big picture while giving care to the details when necessary. You iterate quickly and utilize data and user research to ensure you’re on the right path towards your goal. You help champion design thinking within the design team and within the broader Product organization. You work humbly and kindly, aren’t afraid to make mistakes, admit failure, and learn from it. You’re always looking to improve yourself and to lift up others around you.
Specifically, you’ll be joining the Product Design team to serve as our first Service Designer. In this role, you’ll be tasked with unifying the experience across the entire customer journey for each of our personas. You’ll collaborate closely with product designers on their specific projects, and with user researchers to understand and document our users’ habits and preferences. You’ll help shape our design standards and team practices, as well as mentor and coach others on the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and map our persona’s journeys, and then work to educate others on how that journey affects their work.
  • Pair designing with product designers to bring a birds-eye-view of how their project fits into the overall user journey.
  • Actively look for creative ways to minimize silos across the product org.
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, other designers, and stakeholders across the company to deliver products and features
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale verbally and visually to a variety of audiences (team members, your squad, company-wide, execs)
  • Own the success or failure of your design work: validate your designs and initiate improvements
  • Constantly seek and respectfully provide design feedback
  • Help refine our processes and define best practices for design at Spendesk

What we're looking for

  • Fluent in written and spoken English - it is our business language
  • 8+ years Product Design experience
  • A well-rounded design skill set (including product thinking, UX, UI, and strategy)
  • Self-awareness and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • An appreciation for the entire product development cycle: research, problem definition, ideation, solution design, validation, and iteration
  • Strong communication of design work and your rationale behind solutions
  • Experience mentoring and coaching
  • A mindset focused on learning and professional growth
As we are an international team, please submit your application and CV in English.
