The Lead Product Designer position is an individual contributor role that will report to the Design Manager of the Engagement team. You will be designing experiences within Nextdoor’s core product areas, including Feed, Discover, Marketplace, and Content Creation, with the goal of building an active valued community, transforming how people connect and engage with the neighborhoods that matter to them.

  • You’ll tackle complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible, and easy-to-use designs

  • You help build a better Nextdoor by contributing to an inclusive, creative and positive Design team and company culture

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 10 years demonstrated experience shipping great consumer products in an agile environment, preferably including work on social networks, building social graphs, follow or relational models
  • Bring a deep empathy for customer needs and insights as well as an intuitive grasp of the business problems we’re trying to solve
  • An eagerness to think big, paired with the rigor and resolve to iterate and experiment your way there, and a sharp eye for the metrics to track to know if we’re on the right track
  • Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, concept work, pixel-level details, and front-end development and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to help a team navigate ambiguity and set the vision and strategy
  • Excellent UX, Interaction/prototyping, visual design.  Animation and motion design is a plus
  • Ability to create rich interactive prototypes with Framer, Origami, or similar
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Swift, Java, or Xcode
  • You’re deeply curious about how to empower neighbors to strengthen their communities, how local businesses enhance their communities, and about what makes different neighborhoods around the globe thrive

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $119,000 to $195,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.

Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
