Lead Product Designer | Acorns

Acorns is seeking a Lead Product Designer to join our design team. You will work on every stage of the product development process; from ideation and concepting to strategy, ux, and visual design. You will work alongside a team of talented designers to flush out new features and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to address design changes and improvements throughout our apps and products. You should be comfortable with design software (Figma) and have experience, and a passion for, working on consumer apps and digital products.

This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine, CA or New York, NY offices.

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself with our design language and existing products
  • Meet and get to know your fellow Design teammates, as well as key stakeholders you’ll be working with
  • Collaborate with other designers on your first projects

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Work on multiple aspects of the product
  • Help refine and improve our existing products
  • Work with multiple members of the team across Design, Product and Engineering
  • Present at design demos and work through feedback
  • Lead a team of product designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Be comfortable with all parts of our products and features
  • Have contributed to multiple product and feature releases
  • Drive the overall design strategy and vision for your team ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs
  • Continuously iterate and improve upon multiple products and features based on user feedback, stakeholder feedback, user testing and product experiments
  • Champion a user-centric design approach, advocating for the needs and goals of our users throughout the product development lifecycle

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • 6+ years experience designing user-centric product experiences
  • Defines the problem, vision and strategy with cross-functional partners
  • Leads a product team on the design side (leads and mentors a team of product designers)
  • Creates design concepts, and experienced working in a multidisciplinary environment to develop delightful concepts and deliver business results
  • Can lead strategy discussions with cross-functional partners
  • Helps develop design processes/approach for tackling a problem
  • Experience melding thoughtful user experiences with beautiful user interfaces
  • Good interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Adaptable and quick learner that enjoys tackling a large variety of problems
  • Passion for product design, apps and personal finance
  • A natural curiosity that leads you to always wonder how we could make our products better for our users

Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $192,000 and $213,347/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
