What started as the result of a hackathon in 2014 is now the world’s #1 Instagram marketing platform. Later was built on the idea that social media management should be easy, quick, and affordable. Our mission is to help small businesses and entrepreneurs create and grow their businesses online. Eight years and millions of users later, we’re still going strong.
We’re looking for people who can help us build something great for our customers — from content writers, designers to developers. So if you’re the kind of person who really cares about making something meaningful, then keep reading.
Our core cultural values are manifested in our practices and processes every day. We highly value transparency and fairness in everything we do. We look for people who like to move quickly, are ambitious yet humble, and have a great sense of humor. If you have a mischievous spark of fun, that’s even better.
Do you have 1-2 years of professional experience in UX?
We have a unique opportunity for a UX designer who’s excited about designing mobile apps, and is known for taking initiative. We’re looking for someone who shows humility, lends a hand where needed, and holds their work to a high standard of quality. On our UX team, we’re more interested in who you are as a person and your potential as a UX designer than your previous experience. As a team, we can accomplish great things together.
Later as a company places a high value on UX. In fact, the usability of our product is one of our core market advantages. For this reason, you’ll be taking an important role in the company. If you’re up for the challenge, keep reading.
You’ll join an energetic UX team that values creativity, participation, and inclusiveness. We actively support each other in career development, and you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of team initiatives that help you reach your career goals.
Each UX designer at Later is part of a small product team that includes a product manager, QA developer, and front-end and back-end developers. We maintain a ratio of one UX designer per product team. As the UX designer within your product team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence the direction of the product in your area.
Our product teams are supported by UX writers, UX researchers, and UI designers—and you’ll work closely with all of them. As a UX designer, your focus will be on UX deliverables such as user flow diagrams and wireframes. (Hint: we’re not looking for visual design in your portfolio.)
This is a junior to intermediate role, so we’re not expecting you to have a huge portfolio of UX work. But please include at least 3 projects you’ve worked on. When you apply, include a link to your portfolio or a PDF of your work.
In your portfolio, include details of your design decisions and how you used data and research to improve things. What problems were you solving? What UX methods were used in the process? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them? What were the outcomes? What might you do differently next time, based on what you learned?
We’re excited to meet you! If this seems like a good fit for you, send us an application.
Later is proudly founded and based in Vancouver. Our team can work remotely from one of our hub city locations: Vancouver, Toronto or London UK. We post our positions in the hub location that we are looking to hire for that role. By the end of 2022, our goal is to move to a hybrid working model to offer the flexibility of working remotely from a hub city and connecting in person.
Later values diversity of thought; we are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All applications will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability, or age. Please let us know if you require any accommodations or support during the recruitment process.
