We're looking for a thoughtful and passionate Product Designer Intern to join our team. You will work alongside our product design team and interact with product managers and engineers to help build successful, user-centric products for the web and mobile. A Product Designer Intern at Postlight is expected to have a working knowledge of essential design principles and a basic understanding of how digital products work today. You will get real-world experience working on client projects and internal initiatives.
- This is a paid internship starting in May or June 2022.
- The length of the internship is 12 weeks long.
- A full time role (40 hours per week) is preferred but part-time will be considered.
- A part-time commitment would be 24 hours per week with a preference for in-office attendance on 3 consecutive days per week.
- This will be a hybrid work environment requiring in-person attendance at our NYC office 1-2 days per week + remote from home.
- You will need to be confident and productive working remotely as you are in-office.

What you have:
- Portfolio or samples of design work that demonstrates a thoughtful approach and attention to detail. Some examples of design samples can be: a website, Figma links, Invision links or links to a pdf or google slides presentation.
- Proficient with design tools such as Sketch, Figma or Adobe Creative Cloud
- Willingness to collaborate with other internal designers and rapidly adapt to feedback
- Basic understanding of typography, information hierarchy, color, and other UI concerns along with familiarity of UX best practices
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to give and accept constructive criticism while following direction when needed
- A positive attitude, a sense of humor and a desire to build accessible products for all users
Nice to have:
- Previous internship or work experience in a related field is a plus
- Familiarity with interactive prototyping tools (Framer, Principle, Origami, Invision Studio, etc.)
- Prior experience creating and designing for web and mobile is a plus
- Working toward, or has, a Bachelors or Masters degree in design or related design field. If they do not have a design degree, then they have relevant work experience and portfolio.

Your communication skills will be as important as your technical ones. We collaborate across time zones via Slack, GitHub comments, documents, and frequent video conferences which require constant, clear communication and coordination. Postlight is headquartered in New York City, but a third of our team works remotely. We know how to keep everyone on the same page, and you will learn as well.
