Internal Product Owner - Application Data Platforms

We’re looking for a Product Owner with a passion for Application Data Platforms (ADP) and providing easy to use, safe, and scalable datastores for Datadog. We do this by providing subject matter expertise, consulting, support, and tooling for many of the existing datastores at Datadog and by providing a growing set of managed services which make common datastore use cases solved problems for the teams we support.

As an Internal Product Owner in the Application Data Platforms group, you will shape the vision and direction of our core data storage, including our globally replicated data infrastructure, mission critical platforms like Postgres and Cassandra, as well as higher level offerings for common data storage patterns. You will partner with engineering, product, and design teams across Datadog to deeply understand how they work, what they need, and what we can provide. You will bring a user obsessed attitude that is passionate about building world class engineering experiences.

What You’ll Do: 

• Drive the vision of the infrastructure Datadog engineers use to store and access application data
• Identify needs and opportunities across the Datadog engineering organization
• Establish key metrics that measure the effectiveness of our systems
• Identify opportunities to integrate our internal systems with other parts of the Datadog ecosystem
• Provide regular product updates to engineers and other stakeholders

Who You Are: 

• Deeply knowledgeable on one more more data storage systems, such as Postgres, Cassandra, Kafka, or Elasticsearch
• Experienced in defining and growing internally focused services and product offerings
• Experienced working in large scale environments with high availability requirements
• User obsessed and empathetic
• Able to switch between tactical and strategic thinking
• Comfortable working with deeply technical users
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills
• You have prior experience as a technical product manager for developer experience and/or infrastructure tooling
