About Opendoor
Founded in 2014, Opendoor’s mission is to empower everyone with the freedom to move. We believe the traditional real estate process is broken and our goal is simple: build a digital, end-to-end customer experience that makes buying and selling a home simple, certain and fast. We have assembled a dedicated team with diverse backgrounds to support more than 100,000 homes bought and sold with us and the customers who have selected Opendoor as a trusted partner in handling one of their largest financial transactions. But the work is far from over as we continue to grow in new markets. Transforming the real estate industry takes tenacity and dedication. It takes problem solvers and builders. It takes a tight knit community of teammates doing the best work of their lives, pushing one another to transform a complicated process into a simple one.  So where do you fit in? Whether you’re passionate about real estate, people, numbers, words, code, or strategy -- we have a place for you. Real estate is broken. Come help us fix it.

About the Role
The Opendoor Marketing team is seeking an experienced and highly strategic marketer to lead and build out our Product Marketing team.

As the Head of Product Marketing, you’ll be a key member of the Opendoor marketing leadership team charting the future of how people feel about and find value from Opendoor. You will sit on the marketing and product leadership teams, and report to the VP of Marketing. Your leadership will be critical to our ability to achieve our vision of drastically simplifying the real-estate transaction, redefining the housing market, and making buying and selling a home as easy as the tap of a button.

In this role, you will build and up-level an efficient and high-impact product marketing function at Opendoor. You will consistently draw on your experience across a range of marketing capabilities to support new product development, positioning, launch, and adoption. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, digging deep into customer discovery and insights, product and positioning acumen, defining and executing effective go-to-market plans, and building programs and teams to scale with an extremely high-quality bar. You and your team will be responsible for conceiving and proposing new product positioning, packaging and leading the launch, iteration, and adoption of new and established Opendoor products.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving strategic and product development:

  • Translate strategy into key priorities and execution plans for marketing, aligned with the overall product development priorities
  • Appropriately define, monitor, and respond to success KPIs

  • Customer Discovery & Design for New Products:
  • Deeply understand the job we are asking customers to hire us for; contribute to customer interviews or partner with the Insights team to develop and conduct studies for critical insights
  • Provide competitive assessments of alternative solutions as input into the discovery phase of product development
  • Responsible for articulating how and how well the proposed product solution maps to the problems we are trying to address for the target audience with input & alignment from Product Management

  • Packaging, GTM & Product Adoption:
  • Responsible for developing a go-to-market plan for new feature/product releases, and gaining alignment from a cross-functional team. Inclusive of product positioning, value props, key messages, channel strategy, creative development, and execution ownership of all GTM tactics
  • Responsible for developing high-quality, clear, and compelling communications, including the development of brief and/or self-serve copy, assets, and management of process and testing
  • Partner with Product Management to define go-to-market success metrics, ensure tracking is in place, and dashboards are available to monitor performance and update plans or priorities based on actual results
  • Partner with Product Management to define product packaging, pricing, and monetization strategies for new and existing products
  • Coordinate with Product Management/Eng on product rollout plans, to align with marketing tactics

  • Team Processes:
  • Owns process definition for product marketing as an input to the overall product development process, go-to-market for new products, and ongoing refinement and growth of existing products
  • Hiring, coaching, mentoring and developing a world-class product marketing team

We are looking for a leader who has:

  • 10-15 years of experience building a world-class portfolio of category-defining products, ideally at different maturity stages from product development to refinement
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to guide, evaluate, and if necessary, redirect overall communication strategy as well as specific positioning, copy, visual, and video storytelling
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with, influence, and earn a seat at the table with cross-functional leadership to drive product development and overall company strategy
  • Aptitude to hire, lead, and develop a small (but mighty!) world-class product marketing team
  • Strong grasp of the product development process, leading strategy end to end from research to execution
  • Comfortable working with and influencing internal and external creative and design teams
  • Ability to extract unique insights from multiple data sources, and make informed decisions that balance the art and science required to build beloved products
