Head of Product Management, Accountants

Gusto is looking for an experienced product leader to set and drive the product direction for Gusto’s accountant segment which works with over 14,000 accountants (and growing) to enable them to provide HR and payroll services to their clients. Working cross functionally with engineering, design and data leaders, this product leader will directly empower the PM team within the segment as well as have dotted-line responsibility for the customer experience orgs that support our products.

We have ambitious plans to scale to millions of businesses while expanding the value that we bring to them, and we’re seeking a visionary product leader to drive initiatives that span multiple time horizons to get us there. You will also partner with our Head of Product to evolve our strategy & product management as a team for Gusto as a whole.

Open to any Gusto Homebase, including remote. While the business unit is not centralized, its center of gravity is Denver. 

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Responsible for setting and driving the product direction for Gusto’s accountants business unit working with engineering, design and data leaders
• Partner with the business unit leader to set direction: this includes developing multi-year business plans and working across functional areas (which includes marketing, sales, and customer support) to deliver results
• Work with Gusto’s founders and company leaders in setting the direction of Gusto
• Lead the accountants business unit product team: recruit, hire, and empower a team of PMs & managers of PMs
• Develop the accountants business unit product roadmap for a cross-functional team of PMs, engineers, data scientists, designers, and operators
• Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, build business cases, and define product vision and strategy
• Work with corporate development on potential partnerships and/or acquisitions
• Articulate and design customer experiences that make our users (including internal customers) smile
• Understand customer pain points, come up with solutions, and then prototype, iterate, and launch frequently
• Be an owner of products and businesses, end to end

Here’s what we're looking for:

• 10+ years of hands-on product management experience, with 5+ years managing growing product teams and 2+ years managing managers
• Bring grit, a willingness to roll up your sleeves, and be hands-on help to your team
• Have a proven track record of building products customers love in rapidly scaling companies
• Pay great attention to detail. Pixel perfect isn’t an ideal, it is a requirement
• Be entrepreneurial, driven, passionate about our mission, and have deep empathy for our customers
• Bonus points if you have SaaS experience serving SMBs or experience in CX or operations

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $200,000- $235,000 in Denver & most remote locations, and $230,000- $275,000 yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
