The Corporate Engineering (CorpEng) Head of Product, Financial Business Systems role leads the Product organization responsible for financial technology systems across Block, including Finance and Strategy (F&S), Controllership, Tax, Reconciliation, Treasury and Procurement. In this role, you will work with senior business stakeholders across Finance and multiple Business Units (BUs) to understand and define the requirements for transforming how our financial systems function to enable our next wave of growth. Identifying automation opportunities by improving the underlying financial data platforms to enable AI and automation capabilities will be key to success. Key outcomes of this work will be automating our monthly close process, building new data products to provide our F&S team with higher quality data more quickly, and working across multiple BU reconciliation processes to improve overall GL health. This position will work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with aggressive timelines and often competing priorities. The position will work across functional teams to identify dependencies and bring attention to risks associated with the work of other functional teams.
Success in this role will require creativity to re-imagine possible future processes that will enable our ability to scale through automation. The scope will include a range of financial planning requirements that will improve or create operational processes and automate key steps.
In addition, this role will be a leader in our Product function and help drive greater maturity of CorpEng’s Product model. This includes defining and managing success metrics, OKRs, roadmap definition & delivery, and mentoring junior Product Managers.
You will:
Manage stakeholders across multiple BUs, Finance F&S, Controllership, Tax, Treasury, Procurement etc.), Engineering, and integration partner teams to deliver technology solutions that meet business needs
Represent the business point of view when designing and collaborating with other Product and Engineering teams, including integration partners
Provide critical input and insight into planning system requirements based on prior experience, process knowledge and future state vision
Participate in internal process improvement initiatives to improve planning, reporting, analytics, and technical aspects of finance business processes
Publish roadmaps and associated metrics with the wider Block leadership team on a quarterly cadence
Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an Enterprise Architecture mindset, in-depth knowledge of the industry as well as our business and department objectives & requirements
Participate in corporate development projects to provide guidance on M&A activities
Lead, grow, and expand a team of accomplished product management professionals while encouraging an environment of learning and growth mindset
Partner with the CISO, Chief Privacy Officer and Head of GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) to ensure privacy, regulatory, and security requirements are incorporated into all Financial products and roadmaps
You have:
15+ years of demonstrated success leading Product teams to deliver secure, business critical software, platform migrations, and data and cloud solutions in a highly regulated environment.
Experience leading a product team that has partnered with engineering to design and deliver a financial transformation for a large multinational company is required.
10+ years of operational experience in managing finance business processes. Must have expert level understanding of the Finance world - Accounting, Tax, Treasury, F&S, Procurement etc.
Ability to understand complex business intent, identify gaps between current and desired future state, translate business requirements into required system functionality, and determine the best viable path to meet current and future business needs while considering delivery time and tradeoffs for each decision.
7+ years of experience in developing strategies and launching data platform product capabilities.
Experience in highly complex global organizations operating with large-scale ERP systems.
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $290,000 - USD $435,000
Zone B: USD $290,000 - USD $435,000
Zone C: USD $290,000 - USD $435,000
Zone D: USD $290,000 - USD $435,000
