The Role

We’re on a mission to simplify global trade. To achieve this goal, Forto’s design team creates excellent end-to-end experiences, empowering customers to focus on what matters along their entire supply chain. Together we push the boundaries of design quality in B2B to make our product experience feel simple, transparent, trustworthy and human. 

We are looking for a Head of Product Design (UX/UI) who will shape and drive design strategy for Forto’s customer platform while leading a team of product designers to create outstanding experiences.

You will partner with peers in Engineering, Product Management, and UX Research to execute towards Forto’s vision. As a design leader, you will set the vision for the customer platform experience, advocate for strong customer centricity and ensure our solutions scale, innovate, and delight. 

You will

  • Manage, grow, mentor and empower a team of 3-5+ product designers.
  • Inspire and push the boundaries of established thinking to create outstanding experiences within a complex B2B domain.
  • Advocate for user needs when working with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to Forto’s customer-centric vision narrative.
  • Ensure success for multiple product design initiatives in a fast-paced environment with cross-team dependencies.
  • Guide the team to implement an effective and efficient user-centered design process within an agile development environment.
  • Conduct regular design reviews to continue evolving our design standards.
  • Establish and maintain a high-quality bar for shipped experiences with your team.
  • Work closely with the Head of UX Research to establish and maintain the UX Research roadmap for the customer platform teams.
  • Closely collaborate with engineering leaders to ensure the quality of implementation meets design requirements.
  • Foster data-driven decision-making by incorporating data analysis, user testing and concept validation into the design process.
  • Be responsible for DesignOps, including hiring, onboarding, team ceremonies, and managing the Forto Design System.
  • Nurture an empathetic, supportive team culture that fosters professional growth, constructive criticism and innovative work.

What you bring

  • 8+ years of experience as product / UX designer working in direct collaboration with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders, preferably in B2B and/or a high growth startup environment 
  • 2+ years of design leadership experience as a Lead (or Principal) Designer, formal people management experience preferred but not required
  • Player/coach mentality - able to drive both high level design strategy and ground level execution
  • A strong view on how design drives product success and quality and the ability to clearly articulate to a variety of stakeholders how this should look like
  • Hyper-organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Experience in collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams, driving consensus around design, resolving conflicts with ease
  • Strong technical acumen and ability to build strong relationships with engineering counterparts in an agile environment
  • Strong business acumen and ability to build strong relationships with business stakeholders across sales and operations
  • Ability to convince, influence, inspire and enable senior stakeholder management decisions
  • Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills
  • Experience in working with Figma
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German is a plus
