Head of Product Design job at Laced

We seek an experienced Head of Product Design with hands-on experience designing intuitive and engaging digital experiences. Your role will be to lead and mentor a small team of Product Designers, to collaborate with Product Management, Engineering and the wider business to help guide the vision of our product. We are searching for a design Leader who is equally passionate about every pixel as they are about zooming out and viewing the larger strategic picture. A Leader who keeps data and customer insights at the heart of the design process and constantly strives to learn everything about our users. You will join a growing multi-disciplined product team that is on a mission to scale up the business.

What will you do?

You will scale the Design team (UX/UI/Research), providing mentoring, coaching and direction while raising the bar through key hires.
Define the vision and strategy for how our products should look, feel and interact with each other.
Build a phenomenal design team culture, fostering an environment for collaboration, thoughtfulness, creativity, innovation and speed.
Guide the Product Designers on how best to gain constructive, direct, and actionable feedback from partners and stakeholders.
Coach Product Designers in their presentation, interpersonal and team communication skills.
Be a key partner in developing our roadmap and ensuring we apply a user-centred, data-informed approach to product design iterations.
Establish and optimise our design process and ways of working as we scale at pace.
Champion responsibility for design quality, principles and brand guidelines.
Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high fidelity prototypes.
Identify and pursue opportunities to spread design thinking and enthusiasm throughout the organisation.
Contributing and maintaining our design system to produce beautiful and functional design that scales.
Help facilitate discovery workshops, design sprints and ideation sessions.
Employing your problem-solving skills to push what's possible on both a creative and technical level.

You have impressive written and verbal communication skills and practise evidence-based design, and can rationalise your decisions clearly and credibly.
You are comfortable giving and receiving feedback to improve the product.
You love people and quickly build strong partnerships.
You understand the design patterns behind habit-forming products.
You focus on how our product can create value for our users.
Your unwavering curiosity never stops you from learning and advancing.

Qualifications

8 years experience working in Product Design in an agile environment, with 2 years experience in a Head of Design or Design leadership role in a high growth D2C business.
Ability to provide value in both leadership and hands on capacity, leading by example throughout the UX and UI Design process.
3+years in building and managing design systems.
Proficient in interactive prototyping using Figma.
Experience with Google Analytics (Mixpanel is a bonus).
