What you’ll be responsible for as Head of Product Design at albelli-Photobox Group

As the Head of Product Design (App) you’re responsible for our app UX strategy and two senior product designers. You’ll work in partnership with the Product and Engineering Directors to own, develop and mature our overall mobile and app strategy and offering, and to define and meet key results.

You’ll collaborate with the product teams to ensure they have a clear understanding of who our app customers are, and what their needs are. You’ll work closely with the research team to make sure we understand how well the app journeys are performing, and that product decisions are being made based on customer insight.

Finally, work very closely with the Head of Product Design (Web) to establish best practice for how Product Design is delivered at albelli Photobox. You will take primary responsibility for maintaining the practice and some operations tasks such as managing the design process, progression frameworks, design principles, design systems, design review sessions and product designer tooling.

Both Head of roles report to the Design Director, and are part of the Design leadership team.

The impact you’ll make:

In the first few months you’ll focus on:

  1. Generating new concepts that balance AI automation with customer maintaining control over their products.
  2. Evaluating recent releases of new features that will support migration of all of our customers to a single app, and defining what the second stage release(s)
  3. Establishing and embedding a new product design process that will work for the Product Design practice post merger.
  4. Working with HR to create an updated version of the Product Design progression framework post merger.
  5. Working with UX Research to establish approaches to measuring customer satisfaction within the app journey(s) as part of a wider strategy on measuring UX from the Design team.

Requirements

You’ll be ideal for the role if:

You love to coach, and you care about the maturity of the whole design team as well as the development of individual designers.

You’re able to turn customer insights into potential business impacts and speak the language of your stakeholders.

You embrace process and documentation, and enjoy making them useful, easy to engage with and flexible.

You’re able to manage and prioritise a backlog across multiple product teams by collaborating with stakeholders and assessing tasks based on risk, impact and business goals.

You’re confident in defining long term vision, and in breaking it into deliverable and measurable releases.

Must Have Experience:

  • Leading and defining UX strategy
  • Line management of designers
  • Designing for end to end and cross platform journeys
  • Experience identifying gaps in insight and scoping research studies
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary agile teams
  • User/customer problem and outcome framing
  • Knowledge of how to design accessible user journeys, flows, interactions and interfaces
  • Delivering on success measures and metrics
  • Experience prioritising design tasks and managing design capacity
  • Defining and embedding design process
  • Experience managing customer experience risks

Nice to Have Experience:

  • Experience of working in an e-commerce environment
  • Experience of DesignOps (i.e. managing tooling, design systems)
  • Experience of using Jira

Hybrid Working

We ask that the team spend a minimum of 10% of their month in the office, but team members typically choose to spend 1-2 days a week in person with colleagues. We have offices based across London, Amsterdam and Barcelona and you can apply for this role from any of those locations.
