Head of Design job at Scale

Scale is looking for an experienced Head of Design, reporting to the office of the CTO, to lead the Product Design and Interactive Brand Design teams. You will partner with leaders across product, engineering, marketing, and sales to understand and scope the design needs of the company as a whole. You will grow the design team, coach & mentor its members, and define & instill a vision that will elevate the design organization.

You will (responsibilities):

Lead and direct the product and brand design teams
Drive product design strategy and nurture Scale Design's processes, systems and technical expertise
Define a vision to establish and foster design culture and team morale
Champion and advocate for design among senior leadership
Provide strong leadership to direct reports through clearly defined OKRs, and design expertise of the current design team through 1:1 coaching, structured training, and mentorship programs
Partner with and empower/accelerate other organizations at Scale
Establish a deep understanding in Scale verticals, and product ecosystem
Balance the needs of our clients and user groups, while staying ahead of the competition
Turn ambiguous feedback and communications into clear, actionable plans for your teams
Balance competing interests diplomatically and open-mindedly while also prioritizing Scale's vision

Ideally, you'd have (requirements):

8+ years of total product design experience
3+ years of experience managing and building design teams
Exceptional communication skills that provide the ability to build productive working relationships and interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels
A passion, and experience, for mentoring designers
Shown success working in and leading teams in a scrappy and fast growing environment
A vision for and knowledge of the value and opportunities brand design brings to an organization
Experience creating and/or maintaining robust design systems
Experience in enterprise SaaS companies or products

Nice to haves:

Experience designing cutting-edge AI and ML technologies
Background working in Enterprise SaaS, B2B, D2C
Experience designing for new products from the ground up
A passion for AI and Scale’s mission to accelerate AI development
A deep interest in innovating towards complex problems
