Head of Design job at Plato

We are the first ever Talent Growth platform. We are on a mission to help engineering and product leaders become great leaders. Thanks to our software, our talent coaching program and our incredible community we help thousands of aspiring leaders to grow. We started with external mentorship for engineering leaders and experienced exponential growth for the past 2 years. After raising our Series A late 2021, we are building the future of our platform with new products and new verticals.

We are looking for a highly motivated design leader willing to build the design function at Plato from the ground up.

You will help us bring our platform to the next level and will be working directly with our cofounder and CPO to build the product roadmap.

You have built up strong experience product design experience, ideally working on b2b SaaS products and have a proven track record in successfully building and managing a team of multiple designers (minimum 5) in a high growth startup / scale-up environment

8+ years or equivalent of relevant product design experience
3+ years managing a team of designers

Creative Thinking - You are able to look beyond what has been done before, or use past ideas in new, innovative ways that are crucial the business's success.
Organization and planning - You can plan, organize, schedule, budget in an efficient, productive manner while focusing on key priorities
User research - You already have been conducting user research and have strong knowledge on how to structure that
Follow-through on commitments - You live up to verbal and written agreements, regardless of personal cost

Your key activities

Implement best in class tooling and processes to deliver on-time high quality design work
Resource planning and Hiring
Mentor and help the team grow in their role to ensure retention of talents
Designing products and features that are world-class
Conducting concept and usability testing and gathering feedback
Developing wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
Finding creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)
Contribute and up-level our design system

Your Key Missions

Creative Leadership - provide a creative vision for the design team and for the whole organization. Become the primary voice of design inside and outside the company
Managerial Leadership - Hire, grow and retain the design team members according to headcount planning
Operational Leadership - optimize the design organization’s effectiveness
Production - given the size of the team, part of the work is production oriented to start with

Our team is fully remote, our only requirement is that you are able to commit to:

3-4 hour overlap with PST for non-customer facing roles

5 hour overlap with PST for customer facing roles
