We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Design to oversee our design department and drive the creative direction of our company. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of designers and collaborating closely with other departments to create visually appealing and effective designs across a range of mediums. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design work and experience managing and mentoring a team of designers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the design team, ensuring the team is delivering high-quality work and meeting project deadlines
- Collaborate with other departments to understand business goals and develop design strategies that align with those goals
- Develop and implement design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across all design work
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate them into design strategies and practices
- Mentor and develop team members, providing feedback and support to help them grow and develop their skills
- Review and approve design work, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and is aligned with project goals
- Work with external vendors, such as printers and photographers, to ensure project deliverables meet specifications and quality standards
About you
- You command respect across functions through thoughtful leadership skills
- You combine organization with creativity to succinctly solve challenging problems
- You are scrappy and knock down walls to achieve personal and organization-wide goals
- You aren't afraid to get in the weeds and serve as a hands-on contributor when necessary
Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field
- At least 7-10 years of experience in design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design work across mediums
- At least 3-5 years of experience managing and mentoring a team of designers
- Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, etc.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with other departments and stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
