Head of Design

At Gadget, we’re building a tool for developers to build, deploy, and scale feature-rich applications wildly fast. There’s too much accidental complexity in software development, and too much developer time is spent on tedious, repetitive, or wasteful tasks. Our mission is to give developers this time back so they can spend it on solving real world problems.

To do this, we need amazing teammates. We believe that people are the backbone of any great product organization and we will surround you with the right tools, processes, and culture to build, thrive and grow. We’re looking for someone with lots of experience in UX and interaction design to join, build and lead our design org.

Our product is different. We need an interface that feels comfortable and intuitive to developers. We’re looking for a designer with enough talent and experience to run the process of figuring out what that interface looks like.

You will:

• Be an early member of the Gadget team

• Build out and own the design language, interaction playbook, and brand identity

• Design and work with the development team to create many core features that will serve as the backbone of the platform for years to come

• Get your hands dirty as an individual contributor for now until we’re ready to build out a larger team

• Help us build a design organization once we are ready to scale by interviewing and advocating for Gadget outside the company

• Frequently give and accept feedback on your work to and from the team

• Own solutions from end to end, managing complexity and engaging directly with stakeholders

• Uphold Gadget’s high standards for design and product quality

You may be fit for this role if you:

• Have a strong background in interaction design, given the nature of the product

• Have designed numerous products that have been used by thousands of customers

• Are a life-long learner. You’re constantly seeking opportunities for growth and learning.

• Have deep empathy for your users, which in this case are developers, who can be persnickety, but who also need and deserve better tools

• Want to work with nice people who encourage you to do your best work and are invested in your growth
