Head of Design

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Product Design to own the UX of our product portfolio at Dandy. You will lead a team of product designers and partner closely with product management and engineering to craft industry-leading products and services for the dental industry. 

As the leader of this team, you’ll own and execute the design strategy across our products and services. You’ll have experience working with SMB’s, understanding how to create experiences and supporting business models that create a flywheel for growth. In this role, you’ll sweat the details, work side by side with the team, and lead with a high say/do ratio. 

What You’ll Do

• You'll collaborate with counterparts from the Tech Org (Product, Engineering and Data) to define the vision, strategy, and design objectives using the needs of our customers as a north star
• You'll play a prominent role in moving from strategy to execution, as well as serving as an internal thought leader and key facilitator of the design process. In addition to continuous improvement of existing systems and services, you'll help launch new and innovative experiences cross-platform (web, app)
• You’ll lead by example. You’ll bring strong leadership to influence and inspire Product Designers to push boundaries to achieve excellence in delivering an exceptional customer experience
• You’ll take a holistic approach to understand our customer’s needs - various levels of JTBDs and their problems- in great depth across different conditions
• Work closely and sometimes hands-on with your team on the toughest design problems. You love practicing the craft of design
• You'll build and scale a high-performing Product Design team at Dandy, both by hiring and developing the existing team.
• Lead the evolution of the design system for Dandy, including collaborating with engineering to realize our system
• You'll foster cross-functional relationships with teams outside the Tech Org, including Operations, Marketing, Clinical support, and others

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
• 10+ years of UX experience in the tech industry; SaaS experience preferred
• 5+ years of experience in building and leading a team of designers
• A coach who supports their team and embraces ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the team’s work
• Results-driven leader who is fearless about execution, can champion a vision and roadmap, and is not afraid to dig into the details with the front-line team
• Data-driven mindset with proven experience utilizing metrics & insights as tools for informed decision-making
• Ability to leverage strong problem-solving and analytical skills to transform challenging user experience and business and technology problems into actionable paths
• Proven track record of developing cross-functional partnerships across the organization
