Head of Design and Research (maternity cover) (m/f/d)

Your mission

We are looking for a temporary Head of Design, to cover a maternity leave, support and guide our team of designers and researchers in creating a great product for our users! 

You will be leading teams of product designers, communications designers and user researchers, as part of our Product department, working together with Product and Tech leadership teams to shape our culture and continue to evolve our design maturity. 

• Lead and develop teams of product designers, communication designers and user researchers embedded into agile cross-functional teams
• Feed a strategic vision for your team, empower your leads in their roles, help connect all the individuals to how their role ladders up to the product vision and company goals and provide opportunities to your team to work independently towards the goals
• Contribute to and facilitate the execution of a business strategy in close alignment and active collaboration with key stakeholders across the product and tech departments and the organization
• Ensure a user-centric and insights-driven product development process and culture
• Ensure that all of the organisation’s creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand
• Manage the planning, resourcing, hiring efforts, implementation, and risk management of your team
• Actively contribute to design sessions and alignments, facilitate workshops, and assist with discovery projects on a range of topics and initiatives
• Communicate and evangelize our design achievements and initiatives, ensuring design thinking practices are adopted by leaders and other stakeholders in the product organization and company as a whole

Your profile

• You have experience leading design and research teams with 20 people or more
• You have 12+ years professional design experience, ideally in a startup environment
• You are experienced in all the stages of a design process, including user research and product discovery, and how data transforms into design decisions that increase customer value.
• You like to work with a B2B2C product
• You have keen visual awareness as well as an intuitive sense for clean and  modern design
• You feel comfortable facilitating workshops and mentoring designers and design leaders
• You feel comfortable with core software development and design techniques
• You enjoy working collaboratively with other designers, product managers and engineers
• You convince others with your highly motivated, proactive and entrepreneurial mind-set
• You are empathetic and a great listener who cares about people's wellbeing and growth
• You speak English on a fluent level
