About the role: 

We’re hiring a design leader to manage and guide Oscar’s service & platform product design team. This team of talented designers is focused on building a unified, user-centric, and flexible platform to tackle complex problems across our core insurance business. You’ll work across multiple products to deliver meaningful results for our internal and enterprise users, as well as the members & providers they serve. Experience working on SaaS products will help, but a strong interest in connecting complex systems is even better.

You will report to Product Design Leadership. This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a talented team of product designers across a range of product design skill sets.
  • Lead with empathy, transparency, and inclusivity, with a focus on ongoing feedback and keeping a finger on the pulse of the team’s needs.
  • Own the team’s performance, resourcing, prioritization, well-being, and culture and serve as a key driver of delivering innovation.
  • Collaborate with product and tech leaders to shape the direction of products and outcomes and contribute to strategic decision making.
  • Lead across multiple product groups and product areas to establish and promote a cohesive vision and voice for enterprise tooling across Oscar and shape the future of our B2B2C business.
  • Shape broad, conceptual ideas into useful products and outcomes and serve as a champion for design vision work.
  • Lead design-driven greenfield work involving key team members and stakeholders to discover near-term and long-term areas of opportunity.
  • Define and improve processes, unblocking team members to do their best work.
  • Effectively communicate the team’s progress and accomplishments, as well as need and challenges, to company leaders.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of leading and directly managing designers, preferably in a SaaS environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, building and shipping applications or software across platforms.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve difficult problems through past work experience and case studies.
  • Experience shaping design direction and strategic thinking, identifying goals and opportunities, and making impact-based decisions.
  • Engaging presentation skills and the ability to tell compelling stories to cross-functional audiences.
  • Ability to analyze and deconstruct complex systems into smaller bits & pieces.
  • Well-developed design and research skills, ability to give feedback and mentor designers in growing their technical skill-sets.
