Responsibilities

We are looking for an exceptional Global Head of Product Security to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible to:

• Grow and develop a global product security team. Directs and mentors staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security programs and practices across the product development and production environments.

• Provide strategic direction, set objectives, and structure and resource the organization and the work in a way that improves the impact of the team and provides a paved path to a leadership position among SaaS providers, inclusive of application security, infrastructure security, and data security.

• Oversee critical cybersecurity areas including incident response, disaster recovery, awareness, monitoring, remediation, information governance, and digital security.

• Lead all aspects of security operations that protect against immediate threats, and respond when something goes wrong.

• Grow the product security programs and capabilities to an industry-leading position, finding opportunities to improve our existing approach, and helping to guide the team to unlock that potential.

• Lead security program planning and implementation - Evaluating, crafting, procuring, and rolling out security technology and programs, and making sure our cloud platform and infrastructure are crafted to exceed the high expectations set by our customers and partners.

• Build strong relationships within the product, engineering and operations teams in order to implement the appropriate security controls to protect Workato’s applications, infrastructure, and data.

• Guide security engineering - delivering tools, technology, and security processes that allow Workato to meet all security needs that our customers have for our products and services.

• Develop and oversee the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures based on industry-standard best practices.

• Partner closely with executive leadership to ensure that all applications and platforms are developed with security in mind and that appropriate security controls have been implemented while driving continuous investment into the Cyber security areas.

• Utilize business-relevant metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the program, facilitate appropriate resource allocation and increase the maturity of the security program.

• Work closely with internal stakeholders and business units to keep abreast of planned changes to technologies, working practices, and business activities that could have an impact on the organization’s Information Security or risk profile

• Support continued compliance with SOC2, HIPAA and other currently required standards, and prepare for possible future security/privacy compliance requirements such as ISO 27001/27002, NIST-CSF. Ensure operation of related controls. Coordinate provision of required evidence for audit.

• Direct and assist as necessary, investigations into information security breaches liaising with the Legal, Security and Privacy teams on data protection ensuring root causes of such breaches are understood and addressed

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

• BS or MS from a top CS program (or equivalent experience)

• At least 10+ years of multifaceted security leadership and management experience in a technology-centric company, including experience leading security teams of 20+ engineers and analysts in a globally distributed organization.

• Hands-on experience designing and deploying security controls across all security domains such as access management, data protection, vulnerability management, incident response and management, application security, network security, preventive, detective, and offensive security solutions.

• An understanding of current and emerging threats and countermeasures and the organizational challenges to addressing these threats

• An understanding of Application Security threats and countermeasures

• Good practical knowledge of security technologies, especially those applying to SaaS Web applications, and wider business solutions including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Identity and access management, SIEM, Data Loss Protection, BCP, and Cloud Security

• Prior experience with AWS, Linux and/or Kubernetes is desirable.

• Working knowledge in the areas of Risk, Compliance, and Privacy is desirable

• Ability to provide strategic product security mentorship based on experience performing threat modeling and design reviews to assess security implications and requirements

• Experience managing and configuring web applications hosted on AWS & Azure
