Blink is looking to bring on a team of Freelance Researchers to join our San Diego studio for a hardware data collection study taking place from April to June 2024 with the potential to extend. These individuals will be working closely with our Research Leadership and Project Manager to execute a series of in-person research sessions that focus on collecting data for innovative products physical products and wearable devices for a leading tech company.
Work will be based out of Blink’s San Diego studio. Research sessions will be scheduled during weekdays.
What you will be doing:
- Moderating and planning usability lab studies.
- Analyzing research findings and helping to prepare high-impact reports and presentations for clients.
- Delivering findings that ensure the usability and usefulness of interfaces for our client's end-users.
- Leading and collaborating with a team of mid-level to junior researchers. Providing coaching and mentorship as needed.
- Partnering with the Project Manager and Project Leadership to ensure successful study execution.
- Advocating for users while understanding the business goals of clients.
What we are looking for:
- Formal education in a relevant field such as usability engineering, human-centered design, cognitive psychology, or equivalent hands-on experience to demonstrate an understanding of usability theory, methods, and practices.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior researchers.
- Experience with Virtual Reality (VR) a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience designing and conducting a wide range of UX research activities.
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
- Experience working directly with clients in a consulting role, including leading client meetings.
- Proven ability to communicate recommended design solutions for observed UX issues.
- A high comfort level with computer hardware and software.
- Ability to work on-site, in-lab at our San Diego Studio.
- A working knowledge of technology constraints and capabilities.
- Direct experience with user-centered design projects.
