Freelance Product Designer (Visual)

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a Freelance Product Designer to craft user-centric experiences across the renovation ecosystem. Renovations are a high stakes experience for homeowners, and a highly detailed process for design and construction professionals. You will partner with product, creative, and engineering, to create elegant solutions that balance systematic design, product goals, and customer delight. Products you’ll be working on include: An AI-Powered Renovation Planning Tool, A Homeowner Dashboard/App for Renovation, a Contractor App for managing projects, and Block Web. This role may be fully remote, with the option to work from our office in Brooklyn, NY.   

Once here, you will:

• Work with the product design team on a part time basis; up to 15 hrs per week
• Support the execution of visual design/UI and prototypes for specific projects, outlined together with design & product leaders
• Collaborate closely with product design leads and product managers to deliver exceptional visual design, interaction design, and motion design
• Work iteratively from initial concepts and prototypes to build-ready design specs
• Contribute to a product design system across desktop and mobile
• Utilize suitable prototyping tools to illustrate the functionality of specific flows or interactions

We are looking for:

• Impeccable execution and care for all aspects of design, with an expert eye and appreciation for photography, typography, composition, layout, color, and motion.
• 2-4 years of experience in interaction or visual design, with the ability to shape user experiences by understanding UI patterns & best practices. 
• A strong portfolio demonstrating a passion for design and skill in visual communication
• Experience working in a highly iterative, collaborative environment where people share work daily
• Care for every detail of design execution, from concept through delivery
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Mastery of design tools for sketching, wireframing, interface design tools (Figma)

Compensation:

Part-time Hourly ($60/hr-$90/hr) with a maximum of 15 hours per week. Actual compensation will depend on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
