Role Overview

As Miter’s founding designer, you will build the foundation of our design organization, becoming a force multiplier for our team—enabling us to deliver better products, faster, for our customers.

To achieve this, you’ll engage deeply with customers to identify their key pain points and design thoughtful solutions. You will build and evolve Miter’s design system, enabling the team to ship consistent experiences - fast. You will shape Miter’s vision, product strategy, and goals as you lead the entire product design lifecycle from start to finish. You will embed design principles across every part of our product and processes, bringing a fresh perspective to a class of software that hasn’t changed in over thirty years.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete product design lifecycle of major features for Miter

• Build deep customer empathy and translate user pain into actionable insights to help you design elegant solutions to customer problems.

• Work closely with product and engineering to build the necessary artifacts: specs, sketches, wireframes, mockups, or prototypes to transform user flows from concept to production.

• Lay down the foundation for Miter’s product design org through building out Miter’s design system and developing thoughtful design team processes.

• Hold our product and team accountable to a high standard of quality and design

• Champion a design-centric approach in all decisions and products.

Qualifications

• You have at least 5 years of experience designing software 

• You have demonstrated ability to ship exceptional enterprise software products

• You can communicate effectively through your designs and in writing

• You love working directly with customers to scope and iterate on new products

• You have a founder’s mindset and operate with high autonomy and velocity

• You enjoy holding yourself and others to a high standard

What We Offer

Our openings span more than one career level. The salary band for this role is $120,000-$180,000 USD base. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as location, work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
